Latest Peugeot finds

Well have added another 2 Peugeots to the stable ! First one is a 'Course' or PFN10, built '79-83, it has been cleaned up with new tyres , tape, front derailleur. Have had it out twice ,very hard work on all the hills here!
Second one I picked up today,as you see in pics need a good clean, but every thing works. It is a PKN 10," Competition" but it has some things I have not seen before, so maybe some of you guys can help.
It has a Peugeot branded stronglight crank 52 & 42, but has a Six speed freewheel at the back (12 Speed ),Front derailleur is attached with a braze on,I have another PKN 10, but it does not have" hand brazed" marked on it. I am wondering if it is one of the first ones. Any info welcome thanks in advance

Well, that's funny : I do have the exact same PKN10 which has the 'hand brazed' markings on it too.. The front derailer a braze-on too. The rear derailer is the same Simplex model you have although the frame size is 64cm.. Just a frame for now, gonna rebuild it with my nephew.

Funny enough is the frame next to an 90's Tourmalet at the moment

I used to own a PKN 10 and worked in a Peugeot shop. The only ones I've seen had hand brazed on them since the main frames were Reynolds 531. The fork and stays were, I believe, hi tensile steel but I could be wrong on that. The stronglight crank looks pretty much like the ones that came stock on those bikes; that may be a stronglight 99 crank on the green bike (based on what looks to be a smallish bcd). They could be built up as triples or as doubles. Nice finds; I'm jealous, I've been keeping my eyes out for a Peugeot for some time on the local CLs without any luck. They were, I thought, very nice riding bikes.

Small world indeed, located in Utrecht myself nowadays, brilliant for biking! I find the Tourmalet somewhat to soft in the ride, as if there's a pillow instead of a saddle? Gonna pass it on to a colleague trying to spread the bike-virus

The brakes on the pkn10 were Mafac competitions branded Peugeot but they got temporarily relocated to the Colnago. Found some correct Mafac racers for the 57cm Colnago recently but they need to be refurbished (bearing sleaves are shot, no idea how to replace them yet ). Watch for the rear derailer though, it's a sneaky plastic thing. Similar RD managed to wreck one of the dropouts on the Colnago..

Cool to see there are more Pugs being ridden!

Nice Peugeots, I recently restored one like the second one for a friend of mine. There's a thread on bushing replacement in mafac brakes here in the forum... I remember taking two of them apart a couple of years ago, it only took a small wrench and some feeling around to get it adjusted, after I cleaned the plastic bushing ring of grit and dirt. The brakes worked fine after that. BTW, my sister bought a peugeut Aubisque (low end) this weekend, I'm looking forward to clean that one up.

p.s. welcome to the forums, iGenie! the area around utrecht is very nice for biking, I recently rode through Oudewater, Montfoort, Woerden etc. on a charity ride, some very nice roads through very nice villages!

Thanks! Was about time I can out of hiding, especially because of the work on the Moser (needs weird/hard to get stuff). Found the postings indeed, much obliged, tomorrow off to the diy shop..

The surroundings are pretty nice here, rode to Leiden last week through a windy but very enjoyable environment..
