1973 Paramount Decals.

Hello Guys,

I going to restore a 60cm 1973 Paramount P13-9 Frame set. I will be painting it Flamboyant Red. What are the correct decals for this year. Also what Reynolds decal would be concidered "Correct"?

Mike

Standard post-1964 "SCHWINN * PARAMOUNT" downtube decals w/split Olympic band seattube decals; no white panel.

I believe they went to the star-type 531 decal in '73, but don't quote me on it.

Are you sure Kurt? I thought for sure the 73 still had the white panel. The '73 catalog still shows it with the white panel seat tube decal and my '73 had a white panel seat tube decal.

Luckily, the first thing you notice in the photo is the woman.

You just have to appreciate how the guy got all spiffed up to ride his Paramount around the pool. So much win in that outfit!

1973 was the transition year from panel to bands. The first frame I have in the Registry with the seattube bands is C73129. Mike's frame is K7321.

FYI, the catalog Paramounts are almost always the previous year's model.

We'll find it for you. Anything to get you back in this thread so your wife can catch you looking at that picture.

Well.....Having South Beath so close, and knowing how the Tourist Girls forget part of their swiming attire... No need to stare at the picture much.

Mike,

From my experience in decals, don't use original water slide decals. Buy the new ones, have them buried in the clear coat. The old ones tend to fall a part as soon as the water releases them. It's very disappointing.

The decals in the auction I linked to aren't really original, despite the listing title. I have used 3 sets of those decals and never had any problem with them.

You probably got ones made by atheists who were trying to smite thee for thy vocational calling.
