decals after a repaint
So I'm in the midst of repainting two frames. Taking my time, so don't expect to see anything soon. Anyway, these aren't high end or particularly common frames, so the original decals aren't available.
Part of me says just plain paint (with lugs outlined) is too boring and they need some sort of decal. But what? The other part of me says the clean look of bare paint looks good and why pretend the frame is something it's not. Which part do I listen to? |

Go to a skateboard shop. Tons of headbadge ideas. I'm partial to pirate stuff.
My next bike gets a POW-MIA headbadge. |
Depending on your components, but I think adding a Campy decal is nice addition to a simple paint scheme.

Hmm, one of the bikes will be getting a shimergo setup, so that's not that far off base. The thing is that one lacks lugs and doesn't have a headbadge (other than a sticker), so it'll look super plain. Hmmm, getting a vinyl sign cutter to do Shimergo in a white script font might work. The other one has lugs (and it's a mixte anyway so thinner top tube bars to look naked) and I salvaged the headbadge (and the headtube area where the headbadge will go is going to be painted the same contrasting color that will be used to outline the lugs), so I'm not so worried about that one looking naked. |
You could buy a "Robin Hood" set on ebay and really confuse people.
