There are maps as a pdf download off of the dairyland dare website.

Yes, thanks. Last night I was posting from my cell phone. Though I could have wandered off and located the maps, it probably wouldn't have been fun, and with the recent route changes, I wasn't sure they'd be up-to-date yet.

Robbie, take care of family issue, and sorry you are dealing with that again. I think it was SVTMike that said they would grab the packets again this year.

The rest of you, have a great ride and fun as well.
Yes, I said I could do that. We will need to coordinate whose packets I'm picking up. I have a group of 8 coming, and I know all of their names so I think that's no problem.

I'll be leaving the western suburbs of Chicago around 1PM, arriving Mineral Point somewhere around 5PM. Does anyone know specifically when we can pick up packets on Friday evening?

Last year it was at the Lands' End H.Q. in Dodgeville. I'm 99.9% certain it will be there again.

It also says that you need to a copy of the persons Drivers License. So, you might want to bring a photocopy if you want to send someone to the pick up. My group will just have to play by ear, as I don't know for sure what time we can get on the road. We may just stop in Dodgeville on the way to MP.

Should we just plan on meeting up at the pub at the Walker House? Most of us are having the dinner there on Friday anyway?

Also, for those staying at the Walker House, I just noticed that you'll need to pay the balance when you check in, and they only accept check or cash. So, either hit the ATM or bring a check....

Thanks hodgykins -- I found it.

Like I said, I am aiming to be at the Walker House around 5. If you want me to pick up for you, I'll be at the banquet and can head up to Dodgeville for pickup after I eat. I'm about 6'3" with short white hair -- should be hard to miss.

UPDATE: It's a no-go for me.

Too many crises here at one time.
I've only been planning this since Aug 11, 2012, so you know it's serious that I stay here.

Sorry to hear.

Maybe next year I'll get a stupid idea to do a ride in NC.

I should be in MP between 5-6. I'll see everyone at the Walker House. I guess.

I just put on a new set of Kool Stop pads and adjusted brakes and rear derailleur, so that's good to go.

On the subject of an informal swap meet sort of thing... I do kind of have one other thing I was thinking of doing. The bike currently has a 120mm stem. I have a 90mm stem to replace it which will help my positioning a bit. Alas, I have no tape at the moment. If someone has some cloth bar tape they'd be willing to sell me (black preferred, but I'm not terribly picky), I will bring the stuff necessary to do the swap Friday evening. A little swap-n-wrench, so to speak. Thx...

If you can wait, I've got new black, in the box, that we can make part of a possible tire deal.

Well, to be fair, iab started the thread well before last year's DD, so a number of us have been through the ride once. Now we're excited about this year's episode, so we're posting up a storm, chattering like a bunch of chipmunks. :-)

Thanks. Yeah, waiting is always an option. It's not like my bars will fall off the way it's currently set up. I am going to swing by the LBS today and see what they have.

When you consider the banquet, the C&V guys milling around the third floor of a 1839 hotel, the lockers, showers, goodie bag, support....bratwursts and cold cut sandwiches at rest stops, locally brewed draft beer afterwards with a free post-ride meal (that is not just an afterthought).....the after-party...plus the challenging course. I think an easy course would be inappropriate.... Yep, generates chatter.

Despite the really poor timing, (when college in NC and public school in NC start), I'm trying to make it an annual pilgrimmage. If I can't get the timing thing to work out, I'm going to try the Kicker or the Brute earlier in the year.

I'd even borrowed a helmet cam for this year, a nice GoPro.

Rob,

Thanks for all of your leg work and organization for the C&V'ers - very much appreciated and so sorry you can't make it. I was looking forward to meeting you - perhaps another time.

I hope to see the rest of the "Walker Gang" Friday evening. You'll probably see me somewhere with an older red Specialized Sirrus in a work stand. I have to put in a longer BB on my son's bike for his triple and swap the FD. I'm hoping he gets there early enough to get it done and make the banquet.
