Ha! Here I sit at National Tire & Battery in Beloit, WI. Spied their sign on the road and pulled in.
Looks like I need all 4 and they'll get the oil changed while they're at it.
They had a good laugh when I pulled out the Topeak frame pump to get access to the spare.
One drawback to carrying 3 bikes.

I just had a Cornish Pasty at the Red Rooster. The asparagus soup was fresh.

Scott - @crank_addict - has a story (or two) to tell about today's ride to Mount Horeb (mostly on the return leg...). I'll let him tell it though.

Rode my Atala. Even with the still missing decals, I got many compliments on the bike. Made the frantic final work getting it road worthy (or so I thought) worth it.
Was planning to do the 150, but my fixed cup loosened a few miles after Governor Dodge, and the mechanics at the first two rest stops didn't have a peanut butter wrench (or equivalent) to remove my crank arm. (No mechanic at the third rest stop.) I settled for stopping every couple miles and hand tightening the cup. I eventually got tired of that and decided to bail at the 100k point. I'm a bit perplexed, as I commuted on the Atala Tuesday and Wednesday, putting over 50 miles on it with no problem.
Other than that, it was a nice ride. The sky was overcast the whole time. I don't think the temperature exceeded 75º. The route was changed so that Governor Dodge was the first climb. Nice to get the worst (for me) climb out of the way first. I used typical alpine gearing - 52x42 in front, 13-24 5sp cluster - so the completion of that first climb was a nice confidence boost.

Got to ride with many of my friends and acquaintances that I know from Chicago and some I see only once a year at this great event. I took 30, or more, minutes of video. Ill try to post the results soon.
Here is my Garmin data: https://connect.garmin.com/activity/859989346

1. Very nice dinner hosted the Fire Department in Mineral Point.
Cornish pasty, spaghetti, drinks, salad, pickles, cheese (curds and sliced). Great slaw.
Almost everyone who notified us, showed up. We sat there and had a couple.
I rode Chrome Molly's Anderson, and Salubrious's Anderson. Pete flew around on the Wraith.
2. Hit the rack at 2 am, up at 5 with crank_addict, loaded our bikes, his gorgeous old-school Peugeot and my D'Arienzo.
A couple was in the breakfast room, we nodded. We found out when we got there that one of that couple is a C&V guy, he had a World Tourer.
We had our own announced roll-off at 7, and other riders gave us a thumb's up.
Noticed another Specialized Allez Epic carbon to go with the one in our group; never thought I'd see two of them at a ride.
3. The Dare swag provided just for us was the 2015 poster and Clean Bottles for the Dare's 10th Anniversary.
4. We had 3 first-timers in the 50K, gerv, bikemig, and my cousin Laura, on ace bikes, and they looked cool, calm, and collected (compared to us).
5. Met ldmataya gerv, bikemig for the first time, others were known to me from a previous Dare or Bartali.
6. Perfect weather, overcast and cool once you got all sweated up. Climbed the wall with 4 cogs to spare, right next to el guicho on his Merckx.
7. Spent part of my ride with crank_addict, who went on to do the 150K. Spent most of the rest with ldmataya and Chrome Molly, watching the pros.
8. Cramps 3x on the 100K, once on a L calf muscle, walked it off. Twice on quads, stopped and stretched them out (they never looked so big....)
9. Thoroughly enjoyed the ride, met great folks from Dubuque, Iowa, and other places. There were a lot of women who could hammer it.
10. Cut over 1 hour and 30 minutes from my previous time on the 100K. Very nice meal and sitting around at the event, no need for the after-party.
11. Most issues were tires.
12. The Friday ride was inhibited by everyone's schedule, other stuff (I ended up buying 4 new tires in Beloit).
13. Tomorrow, we ride from Riley into Madison for a drink on the Terrace.
14. I shot some video, too, will have to learn how to get it edited.

Yeah, I can't blame anyone other than the mechanic... I used teflon tape. Tightened with a Park wrench, but obviously not torqued well enough. I had a similar problem with my Medici, but after retightening it, I've had no problems. I might try some blue Loctite on this one, just as an experiment.

Built up my old Battaglin for the dare. 50/34 front, 11-28 rear. Finished the build less than 2 weeks ago.
Here's a post-ride pic at Land's End HQ (nothing fell off...)
Overall, great event on all levels. Really impressed by the SAG vehicles. Seemed like I would see one every five min.
Rode the 100k and put in a decent time. Recovered by walking all over Mineral Point with the wife. (More hills).
Love to try the 150k next time.

Well I managed to oversleep and miss the C&V roll-out, but made another start time. Rode the 150k, and it was no joke. I think out of the approximately 100 miles, about 10 of them were anything approaching flat. I had 2 flats in a row in the last 20 miles, but some kind soul took pity on me and gave me a spare tube. Thanks Tom, wherever you are.
All the people I met were very nice and pleasant to ride with. The roads and traffic were for the most part excellent. Ditto the aid stations. This was a really well organized event.
I got more compliments on my bike today than I think I've ever gotten before. I credit its wild paint scheme and my matching jersey most of all. People also seemed genuinely amused that anyone would be a serious rider on this kind of event with downtube shifters. People did seem impressed that I used a standard 53-39 crankset, too.
Given that I started about 45 minutes late, I think that I missed most of the C&Vers, but I did run into @Barrettscv, a very old Peugeot that I recognized, and someone on a nice Legnano. He had to be one of us, right?
Great time had by all. I'm supposed to ride a fixed gear century tomorrow, but we'll see about that...

This is what I rode on Saturday. With a 46x24 low I only had one speed going up hill. My arms are actually worse of than my legs are today.
I was impressed with how many riders acknowledged the effort to bring out the vintage bikes.

The 100km route was tougher than last year with 4700 ft of climbing and 8 climbs with 10% (or steeper) sections. I found any hill over 10% brutal, but thats the idea, isn't it?
Got to ride with many of my friends and acquaintances that I know from Chicago and some I see only once a year at this great event. I took 30, or more, minutes of video. Ill try to post the results soon.

It was another great ride. The 150 was about the same as last year, but a new road Mill Creek was awful. Finished at 8297'
