Number of balls helicomatic silver hub

I have a beautiful old raleigh quasar i'm bringing back from the dead. While servicing the rear hub today i counted 24 balls when they came out. After cleaning everything i went to put them back in and counted 23. I've already found the right side holds 13 balls, and the left side seems to be at least one ball short when i put 10 balls in that side.

Can someone verify how many balls this hub holds?

The Maillard Helicomatic hub uses 13 5/32" loose ball bearings per side.

Found the missing ball and bought a couple more. The bike is a lot quieter and smoother now there's 13 on each side. Thanks for the help!

You might want to go back and get all new ball bearings. That is a lot easier and cheaper the replacing cups and cones. Though I am sure lots of people do so, using mismatched ball bearings is not a good idea! If the bearing(s) you added are just a touch bigger, they will carry an inappropriate proportion of the load, wearing very quickly and/or or snapping in half.

Anyway, just an opinion.
