Richmond, VA people?
I'm going to be in Richmond area (Actually about an hour south) for work over the next two weeks. I was debating renting a bike for a ride on Saturday, to experience some hilly riding, and some not-as-bad-as-FL climate. If anyone is in the area and wants to ride, or has a loaner bike, I'd much rather rent a bike from a BF'er then an LBS!

Try Poguemahone (tall bikes) and sykerocker (about 56cm).
They'd probably want to meet you first. I think there are others. A guy here on CL wanted to come here for 6 weeks and rent a bike. For $50, he could ship a bike to REI and get it assembled and adjusted for another $25. For $50 back, it would be at his house right after he arrived home. $125 total. That's a whole lot cheaper than renting, and when he said he didn't want to do that, I figured he was scamming. |
Thanks for the tips!
Well, online ( http://pedalpowerbicycles.com/articl...enow-pg124.htm ) is ~50 a day before taxes etc. Since I'm only going to have opportunity for 1-2 days, I couldn't see the cost benefit to ship up one of my bikes, and shipping it back. For the short term stuff, It's not really a worthwhile option. |
If you're an hour south of Richmond, you could start picking up some of the NC people as well. If you're looking for hills, you're in the wrong end of the state. Drive 4 hours west, I'll show you some hills. My brother is in Richmond, but just had eye surgery. I don't think he's in riding condition at the moment. Otherwise, I'd send you his way.

Well, coming from my part of FL, any level of incline is a hill. I about a "big climb " too, but I don't know thaw area or the routes, so I'm kinda stuck.
