Damn all you zombies, and non-zombies - I sold my celeste Grizzly back around Thanksgiving and was finally just about over my seller's remorse...now you got me back to missing it :(

But maybe I should look at this thread's resurrection as a blessing rather than a curse...
Until age and assorted physical ailments forced me to give it up - I regularly rode my Grizzly mountain bike as it should be - on trails at our local MTB parks. Consequently, I dinged the frame a lot. Occasionally I tried to touch-up the scars, but perhaps due to the frame being made in Japan, or maybe from sun-fading - I went through quite a few different "close but not quite" paints and nail polishes in my attempts at a perfect match.

I still have several left, and having a frugal nature, hate to just throw them out even though I don't need them anymore. Would any of Bianchiboys or Bianchigirlls here like to have them? Just cover the shipping cost and they are yours. Let me know...

...sure, man. the closest I have come with that Giro is some kind of "mint green" I got at Hobby Lobby. It's not really close enough, but it's better than the bare metal.

I'll PM you.

So...the guy at the powder coat shop told me that I was in luck. He had another customer ask for Bianchi Celeste and that, while it was a special order, he still had enough left to do my 1989 Axis frame and fork. Now, I know that the actual "Celeste" color changed a bit in shade and tone from year to year, but...well, you be the judge.

IMHO it looks more turquoise to me compared to the OEM color.

tp4surf 02-20-19 12:59 PM

Yep..., like my wife said, "nice color, but not like my Eros". I should have asked to see the paint, although powder-coating is, well, a powder...changes color after baked. Ironically, he had a "seafoam green" sample that was much closer to Celeste. But when I said "...for my Bianchi..." he went with the special order pitch. I would have asked for a re-coat but, this is not a true restoration by any stretch, and in the interest of not appearing to be a PITA customer, I took it as a lesson learned.

It reminds me of an '87 Volpe

I believe this particular example belongs to a member here

Yeah, I made the mistake of selling my 2007 Volpe when an Alan Carbon Cross X33 frame caught my eye. I've been trying to replicate that Volpe ever since.

15 Counties? You must be able to ride that trail network for days. Nice Bianchi

Thanks. I think that "15 counties" is more aspirational than rideable. There is a lot of linking greenways together to do. But I live close to couple of them.

Bianchigirll 02-20-19 06:26 PM

Oh. That’s like Fort Wayne. They had a big ta doo last year about completing the 100th mike of bike trail but it is dozens of disjointed trails some only a mile or so

Built this Advantage for my wife’s birthday gift. Tange tubing, with steel fork. Was originally a horrid blue-green and charcoal two tone monstrosity. Biopace and most all driveline components were upgraded during the project.

Fork is carbon aftermarket replacement. Original dealer decal was supplied by College Cyclery. Still in business and using the same decal design.

Does that translate to Olive Drab? Actually I like that look

Matadors 03-09-19 05:00 PM

I am going to paint my Ibex celeste just to match my wife's bike.
