Just thought I'd share my current celeste here. A lowly '89 Campione d' Italia but made in Italy, celeste and in the seemingly hard to find 55cm checks all my boxes. Here's from when I got it back in Feb 2018 to today. I believe it was a low mile unit - look at all that anodized material left on those rims!
I got it from one of those house clean-out/scrapper guys and it was very dirty. I'm sure he just got it from one of his jobs and didn't have a lot or anything into it. I think I paid $275 for it, the vast majority of that I won from a work Super Bowl pool the week before!

Thank you. @T-Mar! To date, I've only been interested to proxy date this based on the decals! On the BB shell I have 9835 and M 8 if that helps.

when Piaggiao (sp) bought Bianchi way back when the color became the same sea foam green
as the Vespa. if you look at the old pics of Coppi there is a lot more blue in the color, more unique
the company says they can't replicate the color because of the lead in the old paint. but with computer
matching I say that's just not true. I really like the contrast of the red decals on the old paint schemes too!

I think I decided that this is a 1989 Giro. This was right after I finished building it. I fixed the brake before riding it.

I have a similar '89 frame. During my research on it, I read that the Mondial had the DS chrome chain stay. If yours has original chrome, it may be a Mondial. The '89 Specialissima and Giro had painted chain stays, like mine. Given mine had a horrendous rasta respray, I had no idea which model it started as. I asked the family which of the two names that they liked better and it was re-christened a Giro.

However, I need to take another picture since I have "re-engineered" the Giro since this picture. Gone is the STI setup in favor of donations from a way too small Miyata 918: Indexed 8-speed DT shifters, Wolber GTX rims with 600 hubs, 53-39 chainrings spinning a 12-23 cassette and 600 brake levers. It's a much nicer ride now. I just have to be slow & careful with down-shifting to the 39 ring and not "slam" the shift. The chain has a tendency to fall off once in a blue moon. Replacing the 39 ring with a 42 would probably solve that problem but I like the lower gear inch range the 39 provides. As a matter of fact, I think the Giro will get the nod for today's Mardi Gras ride. I'll update the photo later.

To the left is my '15 Intenso. (strong winds and high profile wheels are dangerous that day)
To the right a late 80s Limited. Very clean and was tempted to buy it.

When I restored my early Bianchi ( believed to be 1930's ) it was very difficult finding the right color. In my research of Celeste Green I found out that the
color was actually formed by the original Bianchi bikes being painted blue. This blue over time faded to a light green and the color Celeste Green was born.

I am original owner of a 1981Bianchi Superleggera. The only parts changed were the pedals. I decided to post it here for folks that need a bike to reference for originality. And yes I finally did update to a Celeste Oltre.
