I LOVE the color on that Somec. The fork looks great too.

I went through the ice playing pond hockey last winter with my iphone in my pocket. It's really depressing that my first thought when the ice started to give way was "oh sh*t my phone!". It still works beautifully, except for the flash which no longer works at all. 2 days in a bag of uncooked rice...

I'm currently building:

Cherubim 650B rando, unsure of the year but its one of the nicest frames I've owned.
700c dirt road bike, it's a custom frame that was just built for me so not really C&V but definitely C&V inspired.
Unknown 70's road bike, possibly a Centurion, lots of nice details.
Max tubed Kotter road bike with amazing space themed paintwork.

I've also got a spare frame and a bunch of old french stuff that would go well together but I'm undecided as to weather I need to put it all together.

I have one project and it's suddenly been put on hold for a while. At least I got it to a point that I can ride it. It's a 1975 Motobecane Gran Touring that's way to big for me.

Why yes it does, at least in my book. It would take me some time to compile a list, I am pretty sure I have ADD, last year I said to myself that I need to just work on one bike until it is complete then move on to the next one, that worked for 2 or 3 builds but I think I started 4 or 5 more

I have more than my than I care to remember and they aren't all bicycles either. Besides isn't that why we get married, so we have someone to keep track and remind us of our fau...I mean projects.

As far as new bikes, one at a time is my preference. Maintaining the fleet takes time as is! Speaking of which - the Merlin needs some love.

Have now acquired all parts. Next step, replace tubular rims with Velocity Dyads on the hubs. New (stronger) spokes.

two right now. raleigh mountain tour... almost completed but i was replacing the bb and can't put the cartridge one in because theres an unthreaded bolt holding the cable stop underneath the shell in place that extends into the bb shell, and blocks the cartridge from going in. i'll probably just tape off the threads and file it down... other than that it just needs a set of cork grips and some shellac. still deciding on racks for that one.

than i have a massive fuji coming which will be getting most of the parts from my raleigh competition but i will need some goodies for it.

I just finished a seal coat on all the wood trim in our new bathroom.

..and no rides tomorrow till the second coat goes on.

However, I'm sitting on all the necessary parts for this FrankenIronman:

DA/30mm DeepV's, Ultegra crankset/BB, 105 single pivot calipers, Microshift 9-sp shifters/FD/RD.
I just sold the seatpost binder bolt and seat post to a guy in need, so I'll let their absence delay this.

I just finished this (yes, all the spacers are now black)



But I've committed to this: (so I guess I need to trade some silver wheels for black)



And then there's the Univega Modo Vivere I'm building into a flat bar roadie for my son to take to college and get stolen.

And always, always, there is a Peugeot mixte frame taunting me from the wall.

For my stable I only have one major project at a time. For flipping I triage all of a batch first - clean, remove bad tires, cables, etc. I may have a couple stripped most of the way with parts in bins. I then work on one at a time. If I hit a snag, need to order/buy something, or wait for something to dry on one bike I'll work on another.

Lemme' see. At one time there were the Bianchi, the Masi, and the Bertin ongoing at one time. Guess which one still isn't finished. Also a wheel to be built for the Raleigh. So one could say the maximum was four. But really only one at a time while the others wait. And now there is only one. Plus the wheel, which makes two.

Yeah, that pretty much describes how it works for me, too.

I have one machine that I want to change the handlebars and stem on, which will mean deciding on different levers. I also want to strip the bottom bracket and service it and fit the Veloflex tubulars I've just bought.

I want to replace the rims on another, from clincher to tubular, and strip the Torpedo Duomatic hub at the same time as it rattles when free-wheeling.

I have a new track frame, the Rotrax, which I want to fit all the parts from my Hetchins NS to as that frame is too small. I've got as far as rust treating the inside of the tubes and cleaning and waxing the frame. It'll probably stay like that for another couple of months. Or longer.

After sitting at the foot of the bed, untouched for a year while I mulled it over, I actually got the Thanet into the sitting room (my wife is in Borneo for a week ) and fitted the Sturmey Archer trigger, cable and fittings for the ASC hub - and was very pleased to find it worked! I then dug out all the Resilion brake parts, which I've acquired over the past year, to see if I had everything I needed to return the machine to original... I don't so it's back at the bottom of the bed for I don't know how much longer.

Then I have a few things to do to another couple of machines, all mentally filed away.


Yes again, except for me it's often just a matter of remembering that I already have the part.

OTOH, I'm not sure if any of this is 'having projects' and think of it more as 'maintaining my bikes'.

Depends on who I am working on them for. If it's for my husband, one at a time, and they get done fast. Conversely if it's for me, about four, and some have been sitting there neglected and sad for a couple years.
