Trek 600

I've been looking for a road bike for my daughter for a while without much luck. This 1983 Trek 600 (Reynolds 531 frameset, Suntour dropouts) popped on CL's today for $175 and I snapped it up. The frame is in great shape, there is no rust on any of the parts (all original), and even the wheels are in pretty good shape (the rear wheel has been rebuilt). It's great finding a bike that has been stored indoors and has no rust. Now I just need to find a good source for 27 inch tires and I'll get this bike road ready:

Nice find, lucky daughter. Almost all of the large online bike stores have a good selection of 27" tires.

Panaracer paselas are great 27" tires.

Great score! I think your daughter will love that bike; smooth and stable ride!

I agree with Dan; Paselas are the way to go for that jewel! Now all you need is a new Trek decal for the Seat Tube!

Enjoy! :thumb:

Until yesterday, I owned two. My favorite bike in my collection is my Trek 600. Vintage Treks are excellent rides. You bought it at a great price!

I took mine for a 40 mile ride today. I made it home just as a hail storm moved into the area. Within five minutes of arriving home, hail covered my front yard.

I'd love to find a new trek decal but I'll bet those are hard to find!

Yeah I was happy with the price. I saw the ad and offered what the seller asked without any hesitation. I just overhauled the front hub and bottom bracket; both were in excellent shape. The frame is in really good shape as are the parts except for the rear freewheel which has the notches damaged so I can't remove it, lol.
