Slightly OT: CL (kijiji) scammers are texting now too?

Selling my old phone, and thought I'd share with you all the scammer hilarity as I've seen it mentioned here many a time.

Scammer: "HTC Legend 3G Smartphone is your item still available for sell, what the price"

Me: Yes it is still available. I'm asking a $100 as it says in the add"

S: "The price is ok by me but i will be offering 150 but i will not be able to pay cash because at as of now I am not in the state i want this for my friend who is based in the west coast and i will pay you additional 100 to send it to her. kindly get back to me with your paypal email address so I can make payment immediately"

M: "Not interested."

S:" OMG!this is too harsh am on the payment already..i understand how you feel about this but i want to assure you everything will go fine.all we need here is mutual trust for each other so this can work out well.please do get back to me with your paypal email address so i can make payment and get back to you with the shipping address as i have said earilier."

M: "Cash only, face to face. This is a scam, I'm not stupid. This number has already been reported to the police. Good luck prince of Nigeria."
It makes me angry that they can take advantage of some people who don't know any better. My mother in law has had people call her several times telling her there is a problem with her windows and they require her password and she almost went for it only for I was there.

I find it's best never to post my number on CL, but instead to ask buyers to provide a verifiable number where they can be reached.
(This shields me from the cellular spam-bots as well.)
