Little help on seat post size

Hi guys/gals
been trying to restore a diamond back Master TG, with 105 components throughout, into running condition and having a little trouble with the seat post. Actually, I have a few seat posts but none would fit into the bike.

Would one of you out there have the same bike and can tell me the actual size of the post? The ever resourceful RIP Sheldon indicates that it's a 27. but that wouldn't even go in at all.

I have a hunch it might be a 26.8 but need some confirmation before I fork out Mr. Green.

thanks

If yours is a pink with black splatter like mine, than it should be a 27.0.

your seat tube might be deformed (squished oval) and if so a proper-sized post won't fit. Maybe a trip to an LBS who have experience making bad openings round again, plus they might have a 'sizer' that will give a more accurate measurement.

thanks fellas, my Master tg is white with blue splatter PE...and I found the original seat post [made by zoom] so it's confirmed as 26.8.
you are right Unworthy1, the seat tube was slightly deformed and I was able to jam a smaller tube down there and opened it up a bit to fit the "craigslist" new seatpost.
