Ritchey #2: Lugged Touring Bike

While researching the Ritchey tandem I came acroos this Ritchey touring bike. Same year & color as the tandem. This is how it just showed up. I have not really had time to go over it. The paint and decals are a bit rough but it should clean up nice. I got it from the original owner and this bit of e-mail correspondence came with it. Enjoy!

"I'm the origional owner. Bought it in 1979 from Bicycle Outfitters located in Los Altos, CA. Their label is still on the seat tube. The frame and fork were hanging up on the wall with other frames. I'd heard of Ritchey, but mainly in connection with mountain bikes. I picked out the various components (that I could afford) and the shop put it all together. The purchase was an upgrade from my earlier bikes in anticipation of a an upcoming trip. In 1980 it went camping from CA to Ohio and then some years later from Iowa to Maine. Did a few century rides, a few years of commuting to work and quite a few day trips. Been a good bike."

Thanks! Yep, one of those aluminum railed dealios from way back when. I e-mailed Ideale customer support about it but have not heard back yet. They stink!

That was a craftsman in top form. Fantastic. This goes near the top of my made-in-California bikes list!
