A Brooks Pro.

Wow, that is a nice one there!

rootboy 07-04-12 05:54 AM

Hmmmm. Did Silvercreek finally dish off that saddle he was monkeying with forever?

pastorbobnlnh 07-04-12 06:08 AM

Great picture Kurt! :) It is a beauty.

I see at least one chrome P-13 still lives in the bedroom! :thumb: Looks to be the newer one. Did the '70 sell?

Michael Angelo 07-04-12 07:27 AM

That has to be the nicest vintage Brooks Pro I have ever seen. Pefrect patina, and just the right aount of wear. Want to trade a Pre Softened for it?

rootboy 07-04-12 08:15 AM

That's a beauty. Maybe we should do a "Show us your Brooks Pro" thread.

That's the one. It's destined for a '79 Raleigh Pro Mk.V.

The '70 now belongs to a gentleman by the name of Emil who commutes between Miami and Massachusetts - I'll probably wind up packing it for him later this year. The '72 is staying, though Emil mentioned that Elton over at Harris Cyclery may be interested in it.

Excellent idea - in fact, let's start it right here. I'll start us off with some of mine (including some no longer with me):

Mine's not vintage, but here it is in the rain, working on it's "patina". 2 year-old brown Alpe d'huez edition:

1973 Brooks Pro

Forty years old and still as hard as a sunbaked 2 x 4!

rootboy 07-04-12 04:49 PM

Another '73. Ditto on the hardness. Perfecto.

Brooks Team Pro. circa '77-'78. Not Pre-Softened. A very comfortable saddle.

Also a 1973. 'Twas a good year, I guess.

I'll add a few from my collection. First up, a blue one.

Second, a scary one.

Third, an old and unusual one (which might be traded to rhm by the middle of the month).

And, finally, a real Honey of a Pro. ;)

Is that what it is? Maybe I knew that, and forgot it. I knew the vent holes make it a bit different. You can see the stamping is almost worn smooth, but I can just make out "Professional." Even though this one has many miles on it, it's holding up very well, and is still very comfortable.

That's what it is. Have a look at afilado's picture for an example of the side stamp.

All but one (non-mountain) bike I ride regularly has a Brooks Pro on it these days.

The one currently seeing the most non-commuting miles: 1980

http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/w...20X/IFPond.jpg

The 'still getting broken in but will never be as nice as the vintage Pros' modern Team Pro.

http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/w...L/IMG_0998.jpg

The one I ride every day, hiding from the rain and the saddle-snatchers.

Aren't we a little embarrassed to show what we stick into our nether regions? ;)
