1956 JC Higgins

Interesting looking. Anyone know about these bikes? Seat post position looks funky. Interesting but yikes on the updates.

I saw that on CL also...I think it originally was a drop tube frame that was flipped over. The seat mount is added on....I think...

Yep, totally custom job. That's a girls bike flipped upsides down.

How to make a $25 bike worthless.

rhenning 07-04-12 05:35 PM

Defiantly a girls/womens's bike that a hipster played with. Roger

ozneddy 07-04-12 07:59 PM

You gotta admit tho,, its clever lol !

Wait, whatever happened to the "bonehead moves by previous owners" thread? This would qualify. If someone is boneheaded enough to buy it, that is. Which I doubt.

Handlebars are upside down, too. I kinda dig it. Maybe next time I've got some useless girl's parts bike I'll have to make one.
I guess the girl doesn't have to be useless, just her bike.

Go for it, Ben! Your daughter will love it!

Actually, I agree -- so, you'd have to know how to weld a new bottom bracket to the former seat cluster and a new seat cluster to the former bottom bracket. Which I don't. But even then, would the seatstays-as-chainstays- be hopelessly flexy?

But if she was useful, she'd need her bike....um

Still got more replys than my restored Ciocc

sailorbenjamin 07-05-12 10:14 PM

I've got an old girl's Ciocc frame in the basement. The old girl would be upset if I did this to her bike, though.

puchfinnland 07-05-12 10:54 PM

hey, not all bikes have what it takes to be restored.

its kinda cool, better then a 25 dollar bike.

I got a bunch of frames that will never get back together-
2x a year I unload the worthless or unwanted to the scrap pile.
