Movin right along. I've still got a few things left to do but, it's up and rollin! I was going to build it with all early Chours stuff but I got a pretty good deal on some 8-speed Ergos from the same seller as the brake calipers so... The A-B style RD seems to play pretty good with this set up in the B postition. I'm hoping a better chain will squeeze out just a little more smoothness. To install the toe clips I need to make a pair of the plate/clamp thingies (unless someone has an extra pair ;)) should be easy enough to knock out though. It'll be on a pair of mismatched rims until I can get some spokes, tires, and the time to lace up the pair of NOS Victory Stradas I got for this a while back. I plan on using the C-Record front hub I've got unless the matching 32H Chorus falls in my lap. I typically ride a 56 - 58 cm frame. This is a 54 but the TT measures 55 cm so with a bit extra post and stem it seems pretty comfy and will be my go-to bike for the hills, running a 39tx23t low gear.

Ergos, monoplanars, long stem, 39/53 12-23 gearing, and a flite saddle. Perfect.

I would agree original Chorus with those fabulous brakes,a dn Columbus tubing. That stem makes my back hurt just looking at it.

Thank you much! Took it out for a bit more of shake down today. I swapped some clipless pedals on only 'till I can make those plates I mentioned, maybe this weekend. Raised the stem just a little bit, but not much. Cycling takes a back seat to speed-skating for me. That low position and a strong core is what it's all about - no back pain here! Shifting still needs some ironing out. On the list is a better chain and some inner cable lining under the bottom bracket to relieve a little friction. The stuff I had on hand was to big of a diameter to fit in the cable guides. Anybody have experience running the early Chorus derailleur with the Record brifters? Any tips/tricks would be great.

I got to see this in person on Saturday - the frame is very, very nicely built. In particular, it has a fantastically-done BB shell; I think this one used castings vice the old-school pressed lugs/shells.

Andy got some great deals on the parts, too. And in case any of you are wondering (as I did) why there's so much post showing, well, Andy's a pretty tall dude and the frame is a tad small :) He's probably looking for a longer stem, too!

Here's hoping you can make those two little tabs for the pedals so you can get them on the bike, Andy. Oh, and I just got a bunch of that teflon cable inner stuff - I can part with a length or two for this project.

very nice, but you need more pictures up. two is not enough for us to really check out something like that.

Is the chain short? Or is it my old worn out eyes again..??

I just pulled some of the lining out of a scrap of Jagwire cable, It looks like it'll fit in the cable guides (fingers crossed). If not I'll drop you a line DD. I've got some stage 5 highlights to watch while I tinker with this tonight. If all else fails I've got an Athena RD that might work better but I'm really hoping I can get the Chorus unit to play nice.

... Quite a squeeze but I got in there. Still needs some work though. We'll see how she shifts on the road in the morning as we all know these thing act a little different under load verses on the stand. Another thing i think I need (and one is on its way) is a proper RD adjuster, the one in there isn't big enough for a ferrule but I'm not sure that's causing any real issue. There is about four links between the upper pulley and the cog using this derailleur. Seems like a big gap to me but i'm not sure... It's getting late, all done for tonight.

Glad the liner worked tonight. If you have issues tomorrow, let me know. I got a ton of this stuff from stausty on the FS thread before he pulled chocks.

EDIT: Was Greipel the one who had both feet off the pedals with his legs stuck out on both sides trying to keep his balance? Hard to tell from the overhead shot who was who.
