got a sprit for 20 bucks,guess its a good deal,needs tires,is worth fixing,nees tire,couple cables

If all it needs is tires and cables, it's not a bad deal. The Sprint was their low-end model in that period. $5 full cable set from Walmart would be great for that bike, and I'd assume repacking the hubs and bottom bracket is in order. If you ride it, that is a good price.
I picked up a 87ish Sprint from a garage sale for $5. Too much work to be worth it though. The frame was a great dark grey pearl, which I sold by itself for $15. It would have been a perfect match for honey-colored leather saddle and bar tape (imitation leather that is) and single-speed coaster brake conversion, but the timing wasn't right.

rode it today,rode better than my trek mountain bike..seems like its faster,,but my bolt come oout of my stem shifter..guess with age stuff breaks,i guess i keep this sprint,i like the old style..now to find handle bar tape,sems hard to find,,any suggestions

guess its a cheap bike,but why spen 600 dollars when i can do same thing less than 100 dollars,most these hi dollars bikes made in china,tiawm
