Chris...Sorry about the painful crash. May you heal up fast and get back on the bike. Glad to know the bike didn't suffer any damage.

Good luck with the recovery - If your a fast healer you'll be fine but I would suggest that if your Orthopod offers internal fixation take it - Most of my patients that have had internal fixation for a clavicular fracture healed in about three weeks and overall had less pain and stress in the long run...

sorry to hear chris,
been there even worse

I was something like in the summer before the 7th grade
I was heading on bicycle to the LBS to check out a new Rampar R11,
was not even a 1/4 mile from home when a fargan CHEVETTE came rushing out his driveway,
I hit the back brake, locked up the tyre and swung to take the hit broadside on my right leg.
well the big bone in my lower leg snaped in 2, 3 months in a wheelchair and a few more in rehab.

Was not fun

heal fast my friend!

Chris,

Hope the healing is starting NOW ! Best of luck with any rehab that they(you) have planned.

Not bike caused but it's been since August that the right side of my skull broke apart and my brain went slumping down into my ear. Took the company car on a short side trip off road too. Ride in the ambulance and 2 ops plus recovery/therapy finds me getting back to riding again. I plan on a anniversary ride this 8-15 to celebrate feat.

Good luck to yours, 3SS

you know you're a cyclist when.... you have to go to the ER for a broken bone, but are happy because you didn't damage your bike.

Double yikes! Sounds like you had a real close call!

Maybe, but I think the result would have been the same. My tires still would have been caked up with sand, only the Big Apples would carry more of it

Thanks for the kind words, I'm healing pretty well. The orthopedic surgeon took some more x-rays, and the break is clean and in the middle of the clavicle, which typically heals without issue. I don't need the painkillers much now, and I'm not stuck in the house anymore. Can't wait to get back on the bike, but that will have to wait for a few weeks

True, the first thing I did was inspect my bike, even though I was still seeing stars from the pain!
