Finally, Co-worker appreciation

So, I ride my '86 Trek Elance (sport bike with Reynolds 531 frame) to work everyday. Set up as a nice commuter (so, not a purist classic): wheels I built, 9 speed ultegra shifters, fenders, old brooks saddle, gatorskin tires, big commuting SRAM cassette, spd/platform pedals, rack, lights, and a bell. Most of my coworkers recognize me as a cyclist, will pick the bike up, and, I think, are a little surprised that an apparently avid cyclist would be riding a 25 year old steel bike. Today, a co-worker/ex-patriate from Australia visited our office. I found him admiring my bike, he commented on it, its build, and how similar it was to a Raleigh he had that he had ridden across Europe. He was excited to see the build. Refreshing... he could tell exactly what I had put together, piece by piece, over the last few years.

Always nice.

Thankfully, the guy I share an office with is also a vintage bike enthusiast. So we bring in various bikes on different days, share tools, and always have to bring in our new finds.

Actually, on my floor alone there are at least 3 other vintage bike enthusiasts. It's a nice place to work!

It's nice to hear that there are more living, breathing C&V guys out there.
I've often thought that everyone on the web is only virtual - someone's "app" perhaps. :innocent:

Yes, lucky to have co-workers that share your C&V passion, but right now, I would just like some kind of job so I can have co-workers !

Congrats on both counts, Vins0010

I created quite a stir when I rode my Faggin to work.

Most folks at my job don't seem to notice that I ride in every day on a 40-year old fancy Italian bike. The folks on the after-work group ride do, though. Most are just amazed that I can keep up on a steel bike with fenders. :) Some have commented that they appreciate the old style -- it's nice to hear.
