I not 100% sure it is even a Schwinn. The fork doesn't look like anything Schwinn ever used. More like Huffy or Murray. If it is a Schwinn it is a bottom of the line up bike. Maybe a World or World Sport or 1980s Sprint. Any serial numbers on it and where are the numbers stamped? Roger

Often people / sellers refer to any bike as a Schwinn. Schwinn and bike were synonymous in the 50's and 60's, and even today.

I am sorry those numbers don't unfortunately help. My best advice is to do a Google image search for 10 speed and see if you can find a match. I spent about 20 minutes and the closest I can find was a Huffy. I worked in a place in the bike boom era and we sold a brand of bike that looked like yours. The problem is the 10 speeds we got looked almost the same but were supplied by by either Huffy or Murray depending who the wholesaler bought them from. The Huffys serial number was on the head tube and always started with HCO. Our bikes had a label of "Holiday" on them. There were many such bikes in the bike boom era which was from roughly 1965 to 1976. The best 10 speed we sold was a $70 dollar bike new and often was closer to $55 on sale. Roger

Yes. In order to make the steering tube on the fork stronger when a lower grade steel was used in construction, a thicker gauge was utilized.

Pretty much all the department store bikes had that size.
