I saw this ad on CL. Thought I'd get the upper hand in negotiations with help from you guys. I don't know much about this bike. I gave my Raleigh Rand prix to my brother so I thought I'd get this

Careful,....... a lot of the stuff AMF made was close to rubbish, including their Harleys (even Harley fans try to avoid AMF Harleys).... that's what usually happens when a conglomerate tries to take on things that they did not have enough experience with....except maybe bowling equipment(?) in this case.......:D
Hopefully, this bike you are looking at might be one that they got kinda right, but don't hold up too much hope.....any links/pics we could look so we can give you some input??

Update: I just saw the CL link and pics. Looks to be a 70's bike boom townie bike (if those bars and shifters are original) with a modern saddle upgrade, otherwise, it's pretty much a department store bicycle with the common-to-those loose clipped on cables and Astabula style crankset with all the chrome doodads. The Shimano stem shifter might work better and longer than others from that time, so it can be considered a plus. if you like stem shifter. It's nice too htat it still has its fenders as you will look for those the first time you ride in the wet. I guess it can acomplish what you might want it to as a maybe a campus or townie bike. It lasted this long, so I could say that with care it can still give you many miles of service if adjusted and serviced regularly, but I think it's still a bit overpiced at 75 bucks. Offer him 35 bucks and see if it sticks.....
BTW, if you get it, you might considerchanging out that saddle to one that will work better for a more upright position. There as some nice repro springed leather saddles out there that might work good.

Good luck

thanks for the reply chombi. i ended up not getting the bike. even though the ad says "asking" which led me to believe he'd b willing to do some negotiating he was set at 75. plus it was a bit too heavy. hopefully i find a good deal soon. i need to get back on the road!
