Bianchi Help
5 Attachment(s)
So I just bought a new Bianchi frame with a Mavic wheelset. I'm really excited to start putting it all together, but I don't have any idea what kind of frame it is or what year it was made... I know the year is hard to find out but I think just the model would be fine with me. It's the Celeste green, says it's made in Italy, and all of the components are Campagnolo. There are also two stickers on the downtube that say Piaggio, and one between the gear levers that looks like it says Columbus (I think this might be the type of frame?)
Anyways, any help is good for me, I got the frame and wheelset for $80 because it was all just taking up space and collecting dust. I'm thinking it was a pretty good deal. I attached some pictures to help out too. Thanks! http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=265146http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=265148http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=265149http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=265150http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=265151 |
Can't do too much better than that for an 80's Bianchi. '80-'81 Specialissima frame.

Hi nice frame what kind of cranks are those? I agree it looks like an '81-83ish frame and certainly top of the line too. but on third look I think maybe more '83/4ish are the brakes recessed or nutted? the under the BB cable routing is what lead me to think later. I unfortunately do not have access to my catalogs for a few weeks so I can't be more exact.

Chromed head lugs were only used from '79 to '81. It was originally either sold as a bare frameset or was a Super Leggera or Super Corsa model complete bike. The pantographed ttt stem is original, and if the bars are ttt probably those as well. The other parts are not.
Full Super Record would be the way to go on this one. |

The cranks are Nervar Star.
I believe the brakes are nutted? I attached a picture because I'm not positive. The Headset has Brev Campagnolo Italy stamped around it. Also, the SN on the bottom bracket is 4.81.476 I originally that that that meant April of 1981, but everything I read about serial numbers lead me to believe that it's never that easy. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=265197 |
