Suddenly I thought of the joyride in Cameron's dad's treasured Ferrari 250GT in Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

No wall hangers for me. If the Paramount were mine, I'd have to build it & ride it. It should be fun to watch the bidding in the last 2 minutes.

considering 95% of the bidding so far was done by bikeforums members in this thread searching for the reserve i'm not sure its really going to go much higher. It may, i'll just say I wont be surprised if it doesn't.

I'm still holding to my guess: tree-fitty x ten.

I personally hope whomever wins puts it together and rides it. There are all sorts of ways to quantify value; I re-remembered that on Friday when I got out on the '73 Super for the first time in a year. What had I been waiting for?

Epic ;)

I'm getting it, and putting on a full SRAM red group on it. :innocent:

There you go - however, you know that would result in instant banishment to the 41...

We should start a pool.

I'm in at 3788.00 clams.

Drillium Dude 08-13-12 05:29 PM

^ 3500.01

Virtual beer to the winner.

Drillium Dude 08-13-12 06:01 PM

Well, that was not a very epic end to the auction ;)

rootboy 08-13-12 06:02 PM

Wow. It didn't receive any last second bids !? I'm surprised.

You didn't win a NOS Schwinn by accident, did you ? ;)

Scooper 08-13-12 06:06 PM

OK you guys, 'fess up. Who here won it?

Drillium Dude 08-13-12 06:08 PM

I'm just gonna take a wild guess and say PG bumped his final multiple and is the proud new owner.

Dallas? You out there?

The winning bidder only submitted one bid, right?

I dunno - ever since Ebay changed the way you could see who was bidding, I've never even bothered to look anymore.

Is that what it's looking like?

photogravity 08-13-12 06:49 PM

No... I am not the winning bidder. Someone came in with one bid after me and I didn't bid any more after it broke the reserve. I fully expected to pay for the bike if I won it, but wasn't sure what I would do with it other than sit on it another 30 or 40 years like this guy did. ;)

rootboy 08-13-12 06:56 PM

Given its rarity I'd say someone got a fairly good deal on it. I would put it together, hang it on the wall for a year to admire it, then sell it on ebay for a quick 23 hunnert. ;)

himespau 08-13-12 06:58 PM

wow, way less than I expected.

Johnonaschwinn 08-13-12 07:50 PM

what did it finally go for?? can't find it

brian3069 08-13-12 07:57 PM

$3,050 Local pickup only hurt the auction

That's disappointing, I'd have loved seeing this with IGH.

And I'm the guy to do the most inappropriate thing possible to a machine like this. I have an Alfine 11 that would have been a perfect fit for this bike. ;)
