S. Bedonni
I know that S. BEDONNI built up rather nice frames until perhaps the mid. 1950's and I have seen photographs on Bike Forums and elsewhere of a superb red condorino bicycle with Campagnolo Corsa gears.
Can anyone give me any information about this builder, who I believe "bought-in" various items and assembled them, possibly for professionals ? Has anyone any photographs of the headbadge and the other decals that were used please and in vain hope does anyone have a headbadge ? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. |
I know nothing of S. Bedonni but I did a little Google searching and came up with this link.
Here it is in Italian. http://biciclettedecadence.blogspot....onni-1946.html Here it is after being run through Google Translate. http://translate.google.com/translat...6.html&act=url Company Bedonni Bologna little is known it, was operational for a few years from 1939 until shortly after World War II ... was not a real manufacturer and not a peasant craftsman's workshop, was primarily an assembler refined assembalava that real special request. Perhaps it was even frame builder, certainly provided a few bikes with his own brand independent professional ... demonstrates the commemorative decal showing this example, mentioning the victory of the Italian Championship for two years, 1942 and 1943! Here are some pics from the blog. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zZIEEjd5xb...0/IMG_2082.jpg http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-oFL27jb0nN...0/_MG_0045.jpg |

Hello, thanks for this information which I have already seen. Cicli S. Bedonni's premises were in the Via G. Petroni, Bologna and I know that he was manufacturing frames / complete bicycles until the mid 1950's at least.
Of course he assembled components [or so we are told], like many other small companies who didn't manufacture their own lugs, bottom bracket shells and fork crowns etc. Knowing how the amateur / semi-professional "local" racing teams operated in that period, it is quite possible that he bought-in frames to order, often with special requirements; team colour paintwork etc. It is known that at least one very prestigious Italian manufacturer produced "bare frames" for such small companies. The mystery deepens. |

^Very cool. How about posting some more pics, including one of the whole bike?
