Chiorda Bottom Bracket

I picked up an old Chiorda road bike frame to fix up as a beater bike to get me around parts of Houston. I was hoping y'all could help me with a problem I'm having with it, though. I'm trying to replace the bottom bracket and noticed that its has a thompson-style BB. This thing is pretty beat up and old, so it's got some rust inside the bb casing right aroudn the threading. The problem i'm running into is that the cups of the BB seem to be stuck in the bb casing of the frame, so i can't remove them to install a new BB. There doesn't appear to be any sort of groves to use a c-spanner or anything like that to remove the cups. I was curious if y'all have ever seens thompson-style BB's with threaded cups or if you think they're simply rusted in place (and i can consequently just beat the hell out of them with a hammer and screwdriver).

Wanted to get thoughts before I go tearing something up.

Thanks for any input y'all could provide.

I'll take some tomorrow (its at a friends house). But just in general, does it make sense for the cups to be threaded and screwed in place? It seems like they wouldn't be (just by nature of the design). THanks for the help in advance, btw.
