A different seatpost and saddle for my Alan Carbonio (what do you guys think?)

The original seatpost that came with the frameset was a Shimano 600 aero seatpost. It was a very nice seatpost and of high quality as only the Japanese can make for its price range, but it was lost on the "all Euro" build I was trying to accomplish with the Alan, so I finally found the Gipiemme Chronosprint aero seatpost in a 25mm diameter a couple of weeeks ago. I first tried it out with the Concor saddle, but the black accent of the seatpost which I mostly got it for seems to get lost under the dark Concor saddle, so I switched it for my white perforated Turbo I was using on my Peugeot. Seems to work/balance out better with the white bar tape and the black acccent on the upper portion of the seatpost is also more noticable. Also lost about 30+ grams with the new post.

Now you just need some white perforated leather tape to match the Turbo. That's a pretty insane bike that looks fast just sitting there.

OK the bike is never going to look anything but awesome either way but to me I would keep the black Concor.

Fantastique! I definitely like the updated look and the turbo has added french cache being the iconic saddle of the badger.

Loveee itttt. I agree with the white perforated tape comment though.

25mm posts are so hard to find! any good sources other than the 'bay? I need one for my KG86 :D

:thumb: for 'after'. I mean, it looks brillian either way, but these things are relative, right?

In keeping with the theme of a simultaneously popular thread this evening, may I ask what levers you have on there? I don't recognize them, but I don't recognize much, truth be told...

After. Go with the salt and pepper.

Levers are what came standard with the Weinmann Delta calipers mounted on the bike....they are holliow backed and quite light for aero levers.

White perforated Turbo and Gipiemme seatpost for sure. So pretty and different. Really no choice. Must not be any non-European on that bike.

I don't know... that Salt N Pepa look is a bit too 90's for my taste

Such a beautiful build! I vote for the new seat post.

Nice update! I like!

Thanks for the input guys!, new seatpost and white Turbo saddle it will be then!
I wasn't even expecting to find such a different seatpost, but I kinda knew it was the right one to put on the bike to match the headset, and all the other black and silver accents on the bike. when I saw it for audtion at eBay.....
And thanks Schnibop!, wouldn't be what it is without the great frame you sold me!

I like it - and that's a cool alternative seatpost.

BTW, PM sent regarding the "missing handlebars" on your Line Seeker.

Are you transferring the Concor to the LS, then?

Hi DD,
Nah,...Concor's going back on the PSV where I had it last year. Good thing about Concors is, they feel good if you have the right shaped rear end for them and they look good on pretty much any C&V bike because of its racy rakish looks. I have a Selle Italia Daytona (Regal copy) on the LS right now, It might stay there cause it looks right, but I never rode on it yet, so it could be just a place holder for the re-build, I'm thinking it might eventually be replaced by a Brooks Swallow or Swift to be more period correct.....I'll get back with you with a PM about the bars.
BTW DD, the Kevin King wheelset I got from you really fell into place into this build. All these things things we collects just sometimes seem to be made for each other. Thanks!

I really like the Gipiemme seat post. I guess I am the only one that likes the black saddle the best. Both look good, I just don't usually like white saddles.

Gary Fountain 08-06-12 03:08 AM

As Homer would say, "Yes,oh yes!" White perforated Turbo and Gipiemme seatpost is a winner. I simply love your bike.

RobbieTunes 08-06-12 03:19 AM

I like the second look.
Looks more like something Hinault would ride.
The black/white balance is nice.

VintageDude 08-06-12 07:06 AM

Just started my eBay search for the Gipiemme 25.0 seat post for my Alan. Looks great!

I like the perforated Turbo on there; the extra white balances out the tape. Gorgeous -- though it was gorgeous before!
