Picked up some Suntour shifters off the bay, for much less than they were selling for in other listings. The shifters are really light! I am fairly sure they are early~ish Superbe. They need some minor cleaning, but are in good condition The rust is just stains, not pitting or 'heavy' rust. They came from Arizona.
Does anyone have an exploded diagram of how these are assembled?

Drag I can understand but something that adds about 20 oz. to the bike is no big deal to the owner of an avatar bike that is over 1/3 of my ~250 lbs.
I think we're on similar paths. I also used a SP SV8 hub for my other dyno wheel, and really like it.
It's hard to stay unbiased, but from what I've read of the H27, I'll expect it to be heavier (it weighs 564g without skewer, 627g with) and a little draggier. We'll see if it's something I can perceive while riding, though.
The H27 is a full 3W, so in theory it should produce light down to lower speeds than the 2.4W SV8. I don't plan to run a dyno taillight with either setup.
I still need to buy a light and the connector (oops, why didn't I do that with the hub??) but I will definitely post my updates to the H27 thread in the Electronics/Lighting/Gadgets subforum: Anyone use the Sanyo H27 dynamo hub? Inputs please!

@jimmuller, I think Peter White has a lot of info on those hubs, though you have to start reading with a huge bunch of patience. I think the consensus is that the Sanyo is heavier and draggier (as @ThermionicScott says), but I have no complaints about mine. I can feel a vibration in my handlebars when I go over 20 mph with that hub and also with the Velo Orange hub (which I think is made by SunXCD). I don't have an SP hub to compare with.

I built up the wheel this afternoon. Rim is a Weinmann AS7X, which is a cheap single-walled rim usually used for OEM cruiser wheels, but I wanted something wide without excessive weight (25mm inner width, but only 488g.) Spokes are Sapim 2.0/1.8/2.0 from Danscomp.

I *think* I can feel a little more resistance than the SP when turning it by hand, but I don't think it'll be a problem while riding. Can't wait for my light to come in the mail!

Ordered from an Australian company, shipped from China, all for about $35: a modern replica of a pink 1970 Mann-Grundig shirt.

The thing is: the standard team jerseys for that year were yellow:

... which was unacceptable for the Tour de France, of course, so they came up with a pink version for this one particular race:

I'm really happy with this find, as I have a 1970 Mann-Libertas, the brand that the team rode. There's only one issue: my bike is orange.
Does anyone know of a C&V event for the colorblind?

This came for me today. Equipped with Shimano 600 and Dura Ace. Too small for me but too good a deal to pass up. Gonna see if my wife will ride it, otherwise might be up soon in the trade thread.

I like forgetting nice things but it's never bottom brackets, or that I charged a fraction of a bitcoin for one of my albums and am now a millionaire from it (50 Cent...sheesh), it's always nice if it was a candy bar I left in the fridge basically.

Kool Stop tire bead jack. My thumbs are still aching from installing a new set of Continental Ultra Sport 2 on my Ironman last Tuesday. That bead was ridiculously tight.
I had to use tire levers to install the tires, and nicked the front tube. By the time I noticed the slow leak I was too tired to mess with it again. So I injected 2 oz of Slime and pronounced it good.
But I'm using the tire bead jack next time.

Nothing C&V, but I did watch the Stella Artois ad during the Super Bowl, and bought two "chalices," proceeds of which help provide clean water supplies for third world people. They're pretty and look great with a nice amber in them.
