Similar to my rig, Tom. Suitable for purpose. I recommend a front wheel block, mostly to stabilize the front. Otherwise the bars could wag around. Simply cut a 2x4 about 8 inches long. Nail a strip of pine on each side of the top along the front tire (create a slot for the tire) and you're done. I even stapled a square of inner tube rubber on the 4 bottom corners to protect the floor and reduce any sliding.

Here are pictures of the Universal brake hoods I found for the Galli brake levers, finding Galli hoods is unobtainium and these look really nice and function great too. Good luck on restoration of lovely bike.
These are available at Velovilles.com in gum rubber, black or white, pricey at 43 euros, but they appear to be new, but worth looking around on the web too.

So my buddy who sold me the red Basso wanted another one in his stable again so luckily I found him this blue one on Offerup a few days later. Offered to facilitate since it was on my delivery route today at work.
I ride 54/55cm and he rides 52/53 and this is a better fit for him.
I believe it to be an 84 Gap. Ill look into it more later but I took pictures with it on my rack before heading home.
Also picked up some 3ttt Superleggero bars for my red Basso

Well I must confess that it is not from the Post office, but from the Local Menards using a rebate from prior purchases and the current 15% off sale of everything you can get in a bag the wrench and two sockets were reasonable price. off to my welding friend with the sockets and we finished creating my new old skool bottom bracket removal tool. Last time I had one available was 40 years ago in a shop that had such a tool. It locks onto the fixed cup by threading together holding it firmly in place and then depending on which side of the tool you tighten it will loosen either left or right hand cups. The sockets are 1/2 inch drive so I can use a 24" breaker bar if needed. A needed tool when working on some stuff that comes into the co-op. And the design is simple and works. Smiles, MH

I received this the other day....not bicycle-related but vintage non the less. A Minolta XK motor sans battery pack in mint condition, no brassing or dents...and working! I have been looking for one of these for years.

My Universal brake hoods finally arrived from Italy 🇮🇹
I have cork tape wrapped around the base of the brakes so it stretches the hoods a bit from their intended shape but it sure feels comfy compared a square piece of metal from before.
Square profile brakes are not very comfy
much better
