I've always wanted a pair of Lotto 1000s that fit; found these on Ebay a couple weeks back and ended up the only bidder. Shipped to my door for under $25 and fit like the proverbial glove. They look sweet, too:
Just gave them a quick spin around the neighborhood to set the cleats into approximate position (but may have got absolutely spot-on lucky the first go!). First go in cleats in a couple years, so have to adjust my pedal entry a tad, but I'm sure I'll get that sorted in the first real ride.
Nice to have redundancy in shoes, anyway - my current pair of Sidis are becoming a bit ratty with the miles:

Bike Horn of sorts
I just received a very nice set of FIAMM Triple Tour Horn set for my Speedster ragtop. Same horns the TdF team cars use as they are fling their way through race. Just came back from watching several stages of the TdF from the roadside in person and decided I had to get one of those horns! Also took self-delivery of a pile of Tour caravan tchotchkes and trinkets, plus stopped at Alex Singer Cycles and picked up a wool jersey and water bottle that Olivier Csuka was kind enough to sign.

My first Brooks Flyer came in the mail. I have lots of B17s, B66, B67 but this is my first Flyer

I re-joined the Pasela Club with these folders for my PA-10 Commuter. Eventually they will go on my MTB trailer-puller when I get $poke$ to build 700c wheels for the Peugeot.

No pix, but I got a couple M7x1.0x30 socket head cap screws. I needed too replace the clamp bolt on a 3TTT stem whose existing clamp bolt was all messed up. I wondered what I was going to do with the second bolt (had to buy two), then Barrettscv gave me a cockpit with a very similar stem. Now I have a spare!
I had to turn down the bolt head a bit, and it's a few mm longer than the original, but for the first time I can use that stem without my handlebar slipping.

When I visited Velo Orange a few weeks ago, I didn't realize or forgot that they sold bags. I was looking at this bag and was impressed at how nicely it was made with the leather trim, interior liner and excellent design. and the fact that it was made in the United States was a little surprising. In a good way. We are getting used to sewn products being made in countries with low labor rates and that makes some sense. With US sourced bags, I would imagine that VO can inventory less because they don't have to buy a crate full of bags and if they turn out to be unpopular get stuck holding the ....... inventory. And availability should be good unless everyone figures out that these are like the Carradice of the U.S. and there is a run on them.

A Schwinn Continental is all about that 60's look. In the '60's Chrome was in style. Chrome bumpers, chrome grill, chrome handles, chrome trim, chrome hubcaps and rings. That also went for household appliances. Refrigerators had chrome handles, toaster - all chrome, blender - chrome, radio and television - chrome trim. My parents had modern style dining room furniture that we would now call "mid-century modern" that had chrome vertical trim pieces for some of that signature '60's look. And let's not forget Kodachrome.
The Continental has chrome chainrings and protector, chrome crank, chrome handlebars, chrome fork, chrome derailleurs, chrome shifters, chrome seat post, chrome kickstand, it came with chrome rims (which have now been replaced with aluminum), and galvanized spokes.
What? You can't be having dull galvanized spokes on a Continental that is otherwise all shiny, now can ya?
Stainless steel spoke are not original equipment, but if they were available for reasonable money back then, they would have been.

Most of this I scored at the Auburn Bike Classic. I was delighted in finding a Suntour RD, very tight but a little patina, for only $20! I was equally surprised to get a pair of black brakes for only $40 but I didn’t notice the missing adjuster until I got home. Oh well caper deim right? Any ideas on something that fits? I don’t care about original and I’m willing within reason to buy one for each.
The beautiful Simplex shifters came in the post from Italy on Wednesday. I just happen to see them on the facebook about 10 min after posting and snatched them up for what I think was a good buy.
I almost passed on the $25 wooden valve caps until the vendor explained they were of course hand turned and finished and the $25 went to a police charity for fallen officers.
