Damaged Mavic Module 3
 

I've bought 2 Mavic Module 3 rims from a seller on French Ebay. They were descibed in the ad as "so-so" ("etat moyen"), but they really are more or less impossible to build straight. Their surfaces were also rather damaged, but at least I go a refund on that. I haven't got the stamina to go through demands for further refunds, so I thought I might ask here for advice. I seem to remember reading a thread where a method of straightening badly bent rims was described. Something involving the use of a door :twitchy:... Could someone either elaborate or point me to the relevant thread?

It was a post by member khatfull, who described how he significantly straightened a warped rim by using the door frame and door edge of a heavy door (or metal gate). The frame and door edge is opened until it can slip the rim between, using the door as straight edge, close the door upon the rim, and a combination of pressure from the door and the person bending the rim, you work out the severe bends until the rim is a as straight as possible.

At least that's how I remember it.
