anyone ever retapped a frame pump?
i picked up a pretty neat frame pump over the weekend only problem is the threads where the hose screws into the pump are stripped im assuming it has to be retapped and i need to find a hose with larger threads? or if anyone else has another suggestion id love to hear it!

I've done it. I tapped it to the hose size I found on Ebay. It may have been a tick bigger.

hmm well maybe there is hope! so i assume it went well and functions as originally intended now? and were you able to use a standard hardware store tap? or something special?

Just ghetto it. Teflon tape and JB Weld. Duct tape for appearance only, unless the threads are so bad you use that in place of Teflon tape. That would give you street cred.

nah i dont think that will work its the type that the hose stores in one end and comes out and screws into the other end

I wouldn't worry too much about finding the right tap. Every size imaginable can be found online. I needed a left hand thread tap a couple of years ago and found it easily. The harder part is determining the correct size. When you get the new hose, bring it to the bolt and nut department of a big box hardware store. Most have a board with male and female examples to try out until you find the one that fits.

thats a very good idea! thanks!

Thats the same setup I had except my pump wan a super expensive Ad Hoc. PM me your mailing address and I'll send you a hose (I had to buy a lot of 10). You may need to open up the handle end hole a tick to fit the new hose.
