What kind.......
1 Attachment(s)
I just come across this frame on a friends property and noone knows about it. I dont recognize the frame style. There are no decals or markings that I can for sure go by. If anyone out there can give me an idea what it is, that would be great. Its a cool looking frame, but I dont want to spend too much time on something not really worth it.

Mid -late 80's funny bike with the wrong fork - could have come with a front wheel anywhere from 24" to 700c, and without the front fork I'm not sure how easy it is to determine. At this point these style frames are not really in high demand.
The bend in the down tube doesn't really look quite right, either. I notice that this one has track ends - I don't know if any of the track versions had different sized wheels. That may mean a standard 700c fork and wheel would be appropriate. EDIT: I did find a picture of a track funny bike with multi-size wheels - but not a single one, road or track, with a bent down tube. |
Actually, it looks like a poor attempt to make a "funny bike", as neither bend looks right. Without some better photos though, I cant be positive.

At firse I thought it was Haro ATB but now I am not so sure. More and better pics would help. is that 26 or 700c wheel? are there braze ons for cantilevers?

Don't know anything about it, but I would love to find a "funny bike" frame to build. Coming from a triathlon and time trial back ground I think it would be a blast to ride.

Im used to restoring old bikes and have had my share of some pretty nice rides. Ive checked the major stuff like straightness of frame, welds and such. The frame is very light and the welds look really clean. The forks def do not look right. And by the look of the stickers and tape on the frame.....my guess would be that it couldve been stolen at some point years ago by some kid and just tacked up enough to be under the radar. The rim on the back is aluminum 27" . I doubt that a rim that size would have fit on the front forks. The idea of a "funny" bike is very possible, but not the intentions I would have for it.
Any idea which manufactuer would have a ser # start off with an HZ ? |
Need better pictures, but the bent top- and down- tubes look to me like the cheapo fixed gear frames that were on ebay a few years back. They are not too uncommon on campuses around ~'04-07ish.

Look what showed up on my CL today - same bends in the DT and all

Ok, so what is it ?
Those bends look terrible. Looks like damage. Obviously it was made that way, but man, that's ugly. Nothing like the smooth curves of a vintage TT bike. Joe |

Soooo....whats the verdict? Anyone know what it is? where are you located ex pres? Im curious as to see the CL ad. If I could just know what it is exactly and something more about....Id be cool. I think it looks kinda strange, but what about when its complete and put together with a nice paint job? Like i said, the welds look clean and it is a light strong frame. It may have potential..

Lowend crap, form-over-function fixed gear boom bike frame. I forget the name (something like Alpha or Phoenix).
