Jack Taylor Super Tourer Tandem
As some of you may be aware of I picked up a Jack Taylor tandem from fellow member ColonelJLoyd a bit ago. It is not done, however it is as a point where I'm willing to share some pics. It still needs:
- the lights and dyno put back together
- hammered honjo's installed
- luggage!
The stoker bar is a VO porteur with VO cork grips which have been shellacked. I made the mistake of shellacking them while not installed on the bar and one of them split when installing it. No worries, I have another set I'll be working on soon. I also need to rerun a new rear mech cable as the one i installed got frayed at the end. Actually, my 3 year old somehow got a hold of my cable cutters and hid them somewhere, so I wasn't able to get a clean cut using alternative methods. The housing is jagwire, compression stuff. I prefer how that shifts to the old stuff and this bike will be a rider.
Honeys b17 specials, honey brooks bar tape. Ta cranks obviously. 27" 48 spoke phil wood hubbed touring wheels. Gold drilled mafac levers i had sitting around. The bottles along with a signed by Norman Cycling cap came from Elliott Bay Cycles on a tip from the Colonel. Tires are 1 1/4 pasaleas.
I have a decaleur and I'll be ordering a Berthoud bag or two for it soon.

thanks for the compliments! So far I've only ridden it around the 'hood by myself but it shifts/rides super smooth. The great thing is is that I can easily fit in either the captain or stoker spots.

Not trying to hijack the thread but I remember Colonel posting about shipping a tandem. Obviously it worked out but Kentucky to Cali must have been quite a feat for something of that size and magnitude. Care to elaborate, either of you two?
