Italian theme handlebar wrap

Hi All, I'll be working on my son's Olmo that I built for him many years ago. I am going to change to wider handlebars and my son likes the idea of something Italian for the wrap. I need hints, please.

I don't have any photos of it and the bicycle is out of town, but it has white cable housing, a blue and white fade similar to a Corsica 50th Anniversary model, but there's no model name on the bike. It does have 126 mm rear drop out spacing and that's as close as I can get to a year. I'll post pics and info after the re-do.

TIA,
Brad

Cinelli makes some cork tape in the colors of the Italian flag -- red, white and green -- but I'm not sure how that would look with a blue paint job.

Is it just me, or do I see a green-anodized 3TTT handlebar?

I've been scratching my head as of late as to why period anodized pieces simply don't show themselves anywhere (though sifting through anodized fixie hipster content can't help).

Italian red, white, green could work.....blue background is used in the National team colors. I'm not sure how it would look with the fade though...? Could really use a picture of the frame to help visualize it.

I got some red/white/green Fubar tape on ebay cheap, haven't used it yet, but have used others of theirs.

Zandvol, Beautiful application, way beyond my skills and may make my son's bike a little too desireable.

I found the same, is it just wrapped with zero overlap?

Ambrosio has their finishing tape in the colors of the Italian (or Mexican) flag. A bit more subtle.

Looking at the image you have, I think I would go subtle, as in blue wrap, with tri color finishing tape as suggested by iab. It would help if you had a pantographed stem to go with it. Also, if you do the three dot technique on the big chainring, and fill with red white green in the dots. Finally a small Made In Italy decal on the seat tube. Just a thought....!

Im sure it will look good no matter what you do....

cheers,

Joe
