Ad find, Vicini, what kind of components does it have?

Trying to phone the owner, price is dirt cheap, though I have to go 250km to pick it up

Says it's Vicini, I can see the rear derailleur is mid 80s Shimano 600, Maillard quick release and possible Maillard hubs too.
The cable guide seems a bit akward, cannot tell if it's 70s or 80s bicycle, and have no idea about the front drive. Any experienced forumites could spot what kind of stuff this bike has? 3TTT stem and handlebar probably...

I have full Shimano 600 on my other bike that in worst case scenario can be transfered to this bicycle. Any clues on the frame? Google does not help much with Vicini.

The guy does not reply to emails and hasn't answered the phone yet, actually I'm most curious about the size of this bike. I need something like top tube 54cm, and C-T would be nice 54cm also, and from the pics I cannot tell...

I don't care about the wheels.

Lol where's the front derailleur?!

Well it looks like the only 600 component is the rear DR which is much newer than the bike. It looks like the bike was built up as a 5 speed using using a hodge podge of variaous components a lot of the stuff seems not to match plus most off the components look to be about 10 years newr than the frame which looks to be late 60's early 70's. It does have fairly nice 54cm or so frame so it may be worth the drive if the price is right.

Well if it's your size it looks like a worthy buy for that price if it rides and everything works. But be prepared to do a lot of work to get it everything right as proper vintage 10 speed.

now this is funny,

I pulled a vicini MTB out of the dump only this week.mine is a welded frame. the quality is ok, paint is shot.
after an hour of fiddling we have a second mtb in the house for the wife.value of bike?50 maybe

75 the price is ok
but the 250km x 2 is 500kms your car maybe 7L /100 = 35L x 1.60 =56 of fuel and how many hours
for a mid range steel tube bike.

think if it is worth it again

thats a whole day in the car for nothing extra special

Heh, I would rather buy it locally, maybe the shipping from Italy would be too much....

I have to agree you should maybe look for something a little more interesting. While nice this bike is pretty boring mid level if your going to buy a C&V bike that needs work you should look for something interesting or higher end.

Actually!!!

THANKS for the link, since I have a friend in Slovenia, the shipping would not be much to there since it's close and no import duties - it's still EU, I can get it over the border no probs, he lives 10km off the border lol. And a friend of mine is italian speaker so I can write him an email actually to ask about shipping

Hehe, horrible color though!

The Vicina is a vaery late 70's to very early 80's model as indicated by the 'potracatena' rear drop out.

All inclusive inclluding gas and food I'd pay around $150 US so that's 195E. In my opinion 195E seems high for a bike with mid-level components in Europe although the frame looks to be of decent quality.

Ha I live on the Island of Finland, all my parts and bikes come from EU-same boat

That color looks just fine, it will bring out your feminine side!
(strip it and paint it!)

do note the deraileur mount- you will need that style,
if you do remove the paint
you could easily remove the mount.

with a new paint job it will look great!

bet of luck with the auction!

Hehe, thanks, though I see there somebody else bidding for this frame too..

I see rust spots here and there, so stripping paint down maybe is the best option, and to treat the rusted areas too... What's the reasonble price for this kind of frame in this condition? I'm kind of hesitating to spend over 100euros...

You mean the front deraileur mount? What kind of deraileur does it sport?

it does not have the strap, but a small ear to bolt the deraileur on.
its well worth 100€ if you get it for 150 its still a fair deal.

austria also has frames avail

That Vicini is a very nicely-done frame - you could do a lot worse. Probably late-70s, judging by the drilled-for-Portacatena Campagnolo rear dropouts. Looks as though the hubs and seatpost are NR.

Here's a link to a Campagnolo Gran Sport-equipped Vicini on the Classic Rendezvous website:
