It even fits the background pretty well in addition to the symmetry of the build-up.

Okay, proof I have too many bikes. I see this thread, and the only bike I can think of for inclusion in it is my Viner. The bike is currently off being repainted in red, with new decals:

http://i872.photobucket.com/albums/a...rbuilrt001.jpg

Then it occurs to me that burgundy is a kind of red, perhaps not as flash as ferarri red, but a more sedate red. Hello 1983 Serotta, 1984 Trek 720, and 1989 Serotta Track:

In the meantime, I recall that I forgot I owned this Vitus 979, equipped with all Italian (except Simplex retrofriction) and no Campy:

http://i872.photobucket.com/albums/a...s/P1060009.jpg

It is quite red, apparently.

And for some reason, I forgot this LeJeune Professional frameset, which has been knocking about for at least ten years waiting for me to do something with it:

This bike has been crossing my thinking of late, as I am debating a build this winter...

So many nice bicycles in this thread!

There is a something about this one that really gets me though.

Gary, any quick details to add?

There is a small piece of info that may be of interest to Aussie bike enthusiasts that like collecting Hillman bikes. I said that this bike was built by Gordon Hill - well I actually suspect that this frame may have been one if the Italian frames built for and imported by Henry Hill around about this time - It looks a little different than the normal Gordon Hill built frame. I may be completely wrong though (English BB) - Gordon built some pretty good frames.

And your pic help answer my wheel question..My two wheel picks.. think I am going for the white with red in it, instead of red with some white in it..

The white?

Or the red?

I vote for White, it will give the Red frame a good contrast.

I haven't seen one like that with the cable running along the top tube. It must be a 70's. But those look like decals from the mid 80s.

Bigbossman sez: "Ya can't swing a dead cat without hitting a red De Rosa." I took his advice, swung a dead cat, and came away with this 1986 Pro. It's gots a white Rolls saddle now.

He has a weird fixation with dead cats and someone really needs to call the SPCA.

It's amazing how many red De Rosas ended up on here; mine is a beauty, much nicer than it's photo'ing.
