If one wants easy bar removal and installation you can also get something like this ITM model 700 clamshell clamp type quill stem....
I dunno, but I'm liking this ITM over my other stems now......

I think, mostly for aesthetic reasons, I just can't consider using threadless type stems on any of my bikes. Maybe after some years I might reconsider when they have more C&V flavor to them....

I love that ITM.

I found a similar clamshell type stem from Modolo - a Modolo X model. Very pretty and graceful, and looks alot like your ITM. I wonder why these types of stems were so shortlived? They offered the beauty of a quill stem with the ease of a threadless stem...

I've never had a bike with a threadless stem.

Quill stems just look better to me.

I've dark-sided and actually like modern "mountain bike stems", but recently ordered one of these Nitto lugged stems to test my Scott drop-in bars on my Look Equipe. Mine's not painted though. Yet.

I saw that, nice size too at 110mm.........but it seems to be missing the front cover cap that goes over the hinge portion of the stem to hide the hinge. I already asked the seller if he still has the part. I should get an answer soon.
