Nice HUGE Cinelli, ebay

$4000 seems a little...ambitious
|
|
I like that he apologizes to "Canada" for refusing a $3000 offer (his refusal a great wound to our nation, obviously), and basically threatens to raise the price to $5K if the ever-elusive prospective buyer refuses his $4000 BIN. I suppose that if one really wanted a 70cm Cinelli, there probably aren't a lot of other places to turn, but still...

Just my impression from reading the description, but this seller seems pretty arrogant.
|
I'd buy that in a minute if it came with a frame-fit pump.
|
Stan, I'm definitely getting the arrogant vibe, too.
What's confusing is that the seller mentions he swapped out the original SR parts for modern SR parts. Yet, almost all of the photos show the original SR parts. I'm sure the newer components function better, but the black seat post, cranks, levers, etc. (and interrupter brake on a Cinelli?) look so much worse than the original alloy SR parts. So, what's included--only the new SR parts? For someone who says, "...if you aren't too cheeky, you may get me to lower the price," this guy seems like the King of Cheekiness! How tall would you have to be to ride a bike this size? 6'8"? Btw, I see that the frame was re-spaced from 120mm to 126mm to 130mm. Generally speaking, how much does re-spacing affect the resale value on a frame such as this? |
Perfect toy to hang on the wall that first mansion for a rookie NBA player......maybe??
A mere trinket at $4K for those guys... Chombi |
Just remember not to pis him off- he is a BIG GUY!
respacing- from 120 to 130 is a big jump, I would like some pics of the seatstays for this kind of money to see how well it took the spreading. I doubt he wil get it. |
Judging by the prices on his other offerings he seems really attached to his stuff.
|
Looks like Jobst Brandt's old bike, except with bottle cages and more chrome. ;)

Yikes, if your that tall, cycling is probably not the preferred activity for you...

This one has been up on eBay before. The story he told before is consistent with what he is saying now. I think what is coming off as arrogance may well be an attempt at humor that is not translating very well from spoken to written English. On the other hand, given the size of the frame and the size of the investment, I don't plan to find out. Fun to look at the pics, though. |
Price is high, but not outrageous. I'd guess that the seller will be sitting on this for a long time, but all it takes is one 6'7" (or taller) collector who realizes that they will never, ever find another rose Cinelli in their size....
If the seller doesn't need to sell any time soon, it might be the way to go. I'm not sure if it would sell much faster if he priced it at $2500. Either way, you need to find a tall collector with deep pockets... |
Is that Jeffrey the Giraffes' bike??
|
If you got the big one.
Might as well get the small one too! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rotrax-Vinta...-/280978197307 |
If EBay had those little price per pound stickers that the supermarket has the big one would be the better deal.
I am not sure if I could ride the big one but would love to try, but not at 4 grand plus a penny. |
would the post office even accept a box that you could fit this bike into?
