Italian Basso, help ID, please!
I was able to bring this home minus my Turbo saddle last night. Can anyone please help me identify a year, tubing, and style? It has 600 levers, shifters, calipers, front/back derail, crank, and arms. it is 23.5" ctc, too tall for me. Thanks to all for the help! I sincerely appreciate it.

Was that top tube repainted? Doesn't look right, specially at the seat lug...

Look's like a Basso Gap model, probably 84-86 going by the style of decals.
Could be a Basso 2-tone paint job, of which they're pretty well known, although admittadely that top tube does look alittle different than the normal 2-tone paint. Most are fade jobs... |
+1, based on the seat stay caps, it should be a Gap, which used Columbus SL. As for the year, I see dual bottle bosses and a pump peg. I have some 1985 literature which does not indicate these features on this model, so it should be newer than 1985.

Yes, someone made a dog's breakfast of that top tube! I hope it's not hiding anything awful, but why else would they paint it?

Everybody is right about the top tube. It looks like someone painted it. I do not see any damage so maybe someone decided to get creative and probably tried to cover some rust or paint blemishes. I will look closely at it. Thanks again for the info!

If there's no evidence of a crash or any damage, I think you found yourself a very nice rider. I really like my Gap and it has the Shimano 600 gruppo as well. Let us know what you think of the ride....
