Name that Panasonic (500 Sport maybe?)

Greetings,

Been lurking of the past week as I look to make my first road bike purchase which I am planning to be vintage due to budget.

Can anyone identify what Panasonic model is pictured below? It looks to be a 500 Sport which looks to garner about $100 tops in the used market based off research on here. I have the opportunity to pic this up for $30 and thinking it might be too good to pass up.

Good price...very small bike.

Won't last long.

You need to be the first person to see iT.

I think it is the Sport, not the Sport 500.

Lower end, but I don't believe Panasonic made many bad bikes. Not the ones I've seen anyway. For sure I'd pick that up, if only to fix up and flip to fund your keeper.

btw, the market price depends on, well, the market. In mine, the lugged bikes with cotterless cranks and alloy wheels for $100 are outliers. I think that bike would be more like $150 if it was made slightly more presentable.

I can't think of a bad bike Panasonic made. They had models I wouldn't want, but nothing badly made.

Based on the color and the decals, I believe you have a 1985 Panasonic Sport. My son used to have an 85 Sport 500. Yours is the step up bike with the Cr-mo main tube frame.

Here is a link to Darin Nederhoff's Panasonic brochure page.
