So am I. However, Van der Kaaij's new partners were quoted in a local rag as having said that 'cycling is the new golf'. So it'll be very expensive fixies, probably.

I aint buying a new bike, but I would love to hang out at the workshop for some good old stories about Post, de Kneet, Fedor and many others. I know for a fact that Kaaij is full of them!

Couple of weeks ago I ve had a conversation with van der Kaaij at the Velodrome in Sloten Amsterdam. He will start at the end of this year as mentioned earlier with his new partners. He will coach them to become master frame builders and one of the guys is helping him financing the whole venture. At this moment they are preoccupied preparing their business.
He told me that he was completely blown away by the huge interest at the RIH tribute ride May 20th 2012. And that almost at the same time he was allready approached by some guys to continue RIH in another business. Still the whole rights issue about the brand RIH remains a vague issue in my opinion... But who cares, I hope they will continue to build some frikking cool bikes and start the Amsterdam Steel Renaissance!
One of the trainers arrived at the Velodrome with a bike he picked up in Groningen. I also had been among many of the people who had shown interest in this bike. But they were kind of overwhelmed by the amount of emails an request for more info due to the blurry pics on marktplaats. Finally they told the highest bidder to pick up this gem. As shown on the pics this RIH is in pristine condition. Well spent 325 or 350 euro's...In the background my former 50s RIH Super Course that I've sold to one of the trainers (2nd picture), a crazy RIH enthousiast and also a framebuilder.

I happen to have an identical frame with 1st gen Super Record. A very nice paint scheme imo.

Nice fiets, Fiets. You could be Willy Alberti all day on that!

It's the first time I've seen that serial number format, but then again I've not seen many of these sports bikes. Fellow member Zieleman has one, maybe he can shed some light on the matter.

Hi Fiets, it looks very much like mine, though some braze-ons look somewhat different (e.g. top tube). Serial number is interesting, cause mine has five numbers and one letter. Does the frame have a decal saying 'een PFG product'?

It looks really good, Fiets! Originally it would probably have had a Titan bar stem. With that and a slightly worn Brooks saddle it would be just perfect.

Thanks! I Love such bikes, high ending super sports... A little bit unknown compaired to famous race RIH's and tour Fongers.

Indeed, the bike need some adjustments like a Brooks sadle, white sport pedals and time conform tires. I guess this stem replaced the original Titan stem because of the size, still I got an old Jabo with Titan stem, I will probably use this stem to complete the RIH

Titan stems can still be found, and there are taller touring versions too. I got this one for my Super, as it's just a little smallish for me and I like a 'French fit'.

Thanks. Alas, no. Not because I don't like it, but I've got so many other bikes to build and to ride. Life's just too short!

Hi, l have just acquired a RIH Sport no. 5632 which looking at your chart dates it around 1959. The bike was raced by its second owner Peter Chew from 1963 to 1983 when it was replaced by a Daccordi. I will post a photo when l learn how to. The bike was repainted in 1979 in a metallic green and gold. Probably depicting Australian colours. In 1983 the wheels and group set were raided for the Daccordi so the frame sat in a garage for the next 30 years. I have now fitted it with campy wheels 27`` and campy steel crank with GS derailluars. The brake levers and gear selectors were with the bike, SG levers and campy end of bar shifters. Great bike to ride.
