What wheels to purchase for a Schwinn Continental?

I bought a Schwinn Continental a couple months ago and I am looking to swap my steel wheels for aluminum ones. What would be a good swap and what wheel dimensions should I be keeping an eye out for?

New will be a little pricey for an old Schwinn. Maybe check your local bike co-op for a suitable aluminum replacement wheel in 27 inch.

I'm also looking for a 27" clincher rim, but have to have a "hooked" style.
Inflating past about 70 lbs. has my tire starting to slip off my non-hooked vintage rims...
