I have a chance to buy this frameset for $1100.
I'm seriously thinking about it. Color reminded me of OP's Ironman.

Looks great with the exception of the wheels. Who the heck wants OVAL wheels? I prefer round!

sailorbenjamin 11-11-12 02:58 PM

Those are Biopace wheels.

I think modern bikes are are awesome. I have a bike I made for myself, 1220 gram aluminum frame. It's a great bike but it's not old and not that much fun to work on. Parts wear out quickly and must be kept clean or they start corroding. It shifts with a snap but that doesn't leave me much to do on longer rides.

My wife's first comment was "you're going to look really stupid going slow on that thing." So far, I've lined up Zipp 404's. The frameset includes the calipers, but they're looking for the seatpost. That will probably cost as much as an Ironman. I figure it would take a year to find the parts and another 6 monts to lose enough weight not to look ridiculous on it. Still, I like it. I'm just not sure it's a bike.

Fellow passed me today, as I was taking it easy into a lousy headwind. Full team kit, Rossetti time trial bike, and your wife's comment was the first thing that came to my mind.

I didn't notice initially, then I laughed for a minute or better, and the dog came in to check on me... I think she thought I'd lost my mind!
