It's a Fongers, from Groningen. Fongers later got bought by Batavus that later got bought by etc. etc.

Fongers was a posh bike brand. The police and army used it as well. In fact, the Dutch colonial army used it in the Dutch Indies, before that became Indonesia. Old Fongers bikes are still cherised today everywhere in Indonesia.

Fongers, that's a quality bike! Here's a piece on Fongers history:

If you don't speak dutch, throw it through babelfish or something. Otherwise the pics are awesome themselves...

The PO may have brought it over in '67, but I'd venture to say it's appreciably older, based on the SA quadrant shifter.

Fongers + Full Chain case + SA dyno Hub all for $150! If it was within a 2 hour drive it would be mine by now!

Fongers = Bugatti of Dutch bikes (I mean proper pre WW Bugatti )

I would pay 150 for the air in its tires alone -to give an idea how cheap it is
