Meh - I don't think Ugo was brazing them at that point, so what's the big deal?
Good to know the threads are okay - the pic surely did look funny. Amazing condition, and a rare frame - congrats!

i don't know if it was lighting, the angle or what, but it doesn't look bad and it threaded more smoothly than most.
So has anyone used those ti freewheels?

At first, I just didn't see all the DeRosa love, but . . .
OMG Aaron, you're right, it's AWESOME!
I shall now return to my "dime-a-dozen" Japanese imports with sadness in my heart.

I have both 6 and 7 speed Campy freewheels. Magnet test came up with very weird results on the 7 speed: first cog is steel, second and third have a different finish and look Ti, but fail the magnet test, too. Stranger still, when touching the magnet to the first cog, it literally jumped to the next cog - seems more steel content in the second and third cogs than the first.
The 6 speed is all-alloy bar the bearings, races and pawls.
Does anyone actually have Ti cogs on their Campy freewheel? Is it just a myth?
The 6 speed was used during the two years I was in London and it looks hardly worn. Probably has at least 2000 miles on it. The 7 speed is NOS.
Thinking of passing along the 7 speed at some point; I bought it for the neato-factor, but I'll never put it on anything.

Nice DeRosa. Which syncro insert do you have? Makes all the Difference. I spent many a day working out the bugs on the Syncro 7 Speed on my Mondia. I may be able to help.

Syncro 7 Speed Blue insert, Regina Syncro 90s 7 speed Freewheel. Shifts like a hot knife thru butter.
The freewheel in the picture is a Shimano, refused to work with the Blue insert. I found out they only work with the Green ones.
Since this picture was taken in now sports a Regina Syncro 90s.

Have you considered going with a 9-speed on the rear? The coaster is a bonus!

No Palo Alto for you!
I had that system on a bike actually; a Surly KM. I don't know which was worse, the boat anchor frame or the bar bell hub.
