I didn't know Tom has a McLean. They look like quite nice bikes, based on the pictures I've seen of them.

A number of years ago I read through a number of the ClassicRendezvous mailing list posts regarding his bikes.
There seemed to be a following there for them. It was a name I was not familiar with.
This auction I think suffers a bit as the angles of the images and lack of a headset or placekeeper make it difficult to see the style of frame it is beyond the cantilever braze ons. Who knows what size wheels it is designed for.

It appears cleanly made, subdued.

I would not pass on a Silk Hope or a McLean if offered.

McLean Fonvielle was only 29 when he passed away, so there aren't that many out there.

Very nice, straightforward approach to framebuilding.

Elegant, thinly filed lugwork was noteworthy.

Bit like a Kvale.

I rode a McLean for a weekend many, many years ago and put it on the "acquire" list.

I've been watching for over seven years......
