Specialized Lifes a Beach
Picked up an old Mt bike at the local Goodwill. 18 speed, Deore xt components. Nice bike, was rattle canned black, sanded off some of the paint and it has the "Lifes a Beach" saying on the downtube and an Image that looks like the old Max Headroom Figure on the Headset tube. Bike is Pink with blue lettering. Have not found any reference to this online. Anybody have any ideas what I found. Not sure why it was rattle canned but many do it here in the bay area to keep theft down.

Sounds like someone put their own stickers on the frame.
~1986 Specialized Stumpjumper Teams (their top of the line mtn bike) was pink, so that could be a very nice bike. How do you know it is a Specialized? |

Or because it was stolen?
|
that used to be my favorite bumper sticker
|
Snap us some pics of this poor spray bombed turd.
|
Yeah, I thought it could potentially be stolen. Thieves do not typically then donate to goodwill. Shot a pic of it in the store and aved the receipt just in case. It says specialized on the top tube in the same Blue the face and other lettering is in

Pictures of the bike!!!! Lots.

Description reminds me of my old Mark Gonzales Life's a Beach shirt. They had lots of shirts, shorts and hats but don't think they ever branded any bikes. Gotta be a sticker added later. |

Nice score! I'm not sure that you can salvage the original paint though.
|
another forum member had success removing spray paint with acetone. but if you sanded already it may not be worth saving. definitely a nice score..
|
That's got "team bike" written all over it. Haha. Well, not literally. It was probably stolen and pretty rare I'm guessing. Very limited production for sure.
Try graffiti remover and possibly acetone. Be careful with the acetone, though. |
Never thought of Acetone, although I'm sure you realize that you need to use it outdoors or with plenty of ventilation. That stuff will really ruin your lungs.

Yes. In 1986, the Stumpjumper was lugged but the Rockhopper was not.

Not lugged. Ma try to get it cleaned up with acetone to see how it looks. Still intrigued as to where it came from with this paint job. Yes u-brake and thumb shifters. Specialized gx26 wheels.
