An absolutely quiet chain ...

...realising that sticky brown stuff you've been plowing through is actually mud, not dung. I also know what unhappiness is.

Happiness is......buying a bike anyways that everyone says is too much and not worth it, because you have a gut feeling/hunch, and discovering that the bike fits and rides better than any other bike you've ridden and you absolutely love it.

Taking an old, neglected classic bike and bringing it back to its former glory.... or as close as you can.

yes a mellow dirt path out in the middle of nowhere that lasts for miles and miles... and the promise of hot chocolate at home

BLowing past some biker in matching lycra on his $5000 CF plastic rocketship while wearing Kaki shorts, a ratty old T-Shirt and tennis shoes, on my 25 yr old C&V bike...(doesn't happen too often though!)

Finding a fully loaded Rene Herse touring bike in your size at a garage sale for $15 ... after getting yelled at by the wife for stopping at "another" garage sale :D

1. Saving that Pinarello panto'd stem that was stuck, without having to destroy it (two weeks ago).

2. Driving 240 miles one way to get a bike, and having the C/L seller keep his word (not selling it while I was driving)!!

3. Asking at a garage sale "Do you have any other bike stuff?" and having the seller pull out a milk crate full of Dura Ace components.
