Logging in at BF and reading the new threads and new replies in the C&V and 50+ forums each morning as I eat my breakfast at my desk before working on whatever is up for the day.

An absolutely quiet chain ...

CMAW 12-23-12 11:34 AM

...realising that sticky brown stuff you've been plowing through is actually mud, not dung. I also know what unhappiness is.

Savagewolf 12-23-12 12:34 PM

Happiness is......buying a bike anyways that everyone says is too much and not worth it, because you have a gut feeling/hunch, and discovering that the bike fits and rides better than any other bike you've ridden and you absolutely love it.

Taking an old, neglected classic bike and bringing it back to its former glory.... or as close as you can.

elboGreaze 12-23-12 06:06 PM

A nice ride on dry roads in Michigan during December !

Creme Brulee 12-23-12 06:09 PM

riding in the rain with a thick cycling poncho and being totally dry underneath it

kc0yef 12-24-12 10:15 AM

getting up and being totally unprepared for what happened that day on your bike

A warm gun, beatles' songs and shiny anodization on campagnolo crabks or cinelli stems.

..... A wide dirt path shaded by trees and unbounded energy in my legs.

Creme Brulee 12-24-12 02:20 PM

yes a mellow dirt path out in the middle of nowhere that lasts for miles and miles... and the promise of hot chocolate at home

RubberLegs 12-25-12 07:34 AM

BLowing past some biker in matching lycra on his $5000 CF plastic rocketship while wearing Kaki shorts, a ratty old T-Shirt and tennis shoes, on my 25 yr old C&V bike...(doesn't happen too often though!)

cycleheimer 12-25-12 07:36 AM

Finding a fully loaded Rene Herse touring bike in your size at a garage sale for $15 ... after getting yelled at by the wife for stopping at "another" garage sale :D

I echo the sentiment, just finding any decent bike in your size for a good deal!

1. Saving that Pinarello panto'd stem that was stuck, without having to destroy it (two weeks ago).

2. Driving 240 miles one way to get a bike, and having the C/L seller keep his word (not selling it while I was driving)!!

3. Asking at a garage sale "Do you have any other bike stuff?" and having the seller pull out a milk crate full of Dura Ace components.
