Peugeot PX8M (french UO8 like) complete overhaul !
Hi, just to show you the little project I've just done with a rusted PX8M (frame is the same as an UO8 frame)
The goal was to turn it into a nice bike for commuting and touring :) http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8499/8...1e4f2ccc_c.jpg IMG_0171 par Max1me, sur Flickr http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8215/8...58f9f76e_c.jpg IMG_0172 par Max1me, sur Flickr http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8357/8...0eeb218d_c.jpg IMG_0176 par Max1me, sur Flickr |
You have done an absolutely breathtaking job, what a clean looking and tasteful build! Very impressive, and good photography as well.
|
Beautiful bike! So classic. What kind of headlight is that?
|
Wow, great build!
|
Hi, thanks :)
It's a NOS Cibié headlight found on ebay.fr ;) http://cgi.ebay.fr/NIB-baby-phare-de...item2ec3480982 |
Nice job for a "rusty" bike.
|
Well... Thanks to sandblasting and powdercoading ;)
|
That is really a very sharp build. Impressive!

Hi, thanks :)
It's a NOS Cibié headlight found on ebay.fr ;) http://cgi.ebay.fr/NIB-baby-phare-de...item2ec3480982 And I think I see a Spanninga Pixeo taillight on the rear fender. Really digging the rear rack also. All in all, C'est magnifique! |
I used to own a PX8M, I loved that bike. It rode nice and I miss it every now and then. Mine had a front and rear light very similar to your setup, I'm guessing yours was upgraded but kept much of the original character of the bike? Mine was nowhere near as beautiful as your build. Really nice job! :thumb:
|
Wow, that is nice. Beautiful presentation also.
|
Yes it is, a Pixeo Xs !
Tailight and headlight are both powered by a "bottle" dynamo on the rear wheel, the wires are inside the fenders and they have been replaced by the Velo-Orange ones because the originals were in bad shape, but it's the same setup as from factory, with a second stay on the front fender to hold the headlight ;) |
I am impressed. Very nice tasteful work. Well done!
|
This bike is one of the best bikes I've seen this year on the forum.
|
congrats!........you know how to build an impressive and dandy looking bike!.....well done lad!
|
Beautifully understated and classy classic!! Nice job!
I was wondering what size the rims and tires are? Also, what brand/make are the brake levers, if you don't mind my asking? |
Very beautiful indeed. I too would like to know what size tires and which size Velo fenders you used on this.
Cheers, Joe |
Hi and thanks ! :)
Rims are 622x19mm (Exal MX19, double walled, with eyelets) laced on the original Normandy hi-flange hub with DT Swiss 2mm spokes, the tires are Schwalbe Delta Cruiser (700x35c), and the fenders are the 45mm stainless version (close fit with the tires !) ;) And the brake levers are Dia-Compe 287 with the hoods replaced with brown ones ;) |
Exquisite.
(But... how do the tires fit on such narrow rims?) |
Actually, the tires fit perfectly, 35mm tires is the perfect size for 19mm rims, I did thousand of miles with a similar setup (Same tires fitted on Rigida Superchromix 622x19mm ;) )
If you look at this compatbility chart (http://sheldonbrown.com/tire-sizing.html) it's OK for 28 to 44mm tires ;) |
You're perfectly right.
|
Update incoming !
I'm waiting for new derailleurs ! I found some Campagnolo Record (front and rear) in almost perfect shape for 50€ :) After delivery (and fitment), I will post some pictures ;) |
Oh my!
Tell us more. I want complete specs of the frame, original componentry, and replacement componentry! (If you're willing, of course.) |
Your choice of colors is perfect, great job! The bike might have been headed to the junk pile and you resurrected it to (even better than) its former glory. Would love to see before pics.
